15 media persons beaten up by CRPF, movement restricted
New Delhi:

Media persons had a tough time in the curfewbound Kashmir on Sunday
with security forces refusing to honour their curfew passes and
accreditation cards of journalists. Fifteen mediapersons were injured
when they were allegedly assaulted by security personnel while moving
around to report events in Srinagar.
Among the injured are: Aimar, NDTV cameraman, Bilal Ahmed Bhat and
Muzaffar Ahmed, Sahara TV, Jehangir, ETV, Mohammad Amin War, Tribune,
Firdous Ahmed, News X and Mukhtar Ahmed of Srinagar Mail. Some of the
vehicles carrying media persons were also damaged.

Our correspondent was also stopped at six places when he tried to go
to Srinagar’s civil lines area.

A senior security force of?cer, who suggested to the correspondent not
to go ahead, admitted that he had orders not to honour curfew passes.

CRPF personnel deployed were in no mood to listen. They said they have
instructions not to allow media persons.
