Dear Friend,
The Delhi Union of Journalists and Janhastakshep, Campaign Against Fascist Designs invite you for a discussion "The ABC of Stings"  VENUE: Kerala House, near Jantar Mantar DATE:  Saturday 9th August 2008  TIME: 2:30 pm.
The recent "cash for votes" sting operation during the trust vote on the Indo-US Nuclear deal has raised dangerous concerns since the vote was over a treaty which ties India to US world strategy. The fact that the CNN-IBN "sting" ALLEGEDLY showing BJP Members of Parliament accepting money for votes was never aired, is a serious attack on the accountability of both the media and Parliament to its own citizens.
Added to this murky affair is the role of a section of the media, which is now coming increasingly under the control of foreign monopolies. If  the Government and ruling Parties  institutionalize horse trading while our media continues to act as watchdogs of statuesquo and smut selling in the interests of  news monopolies, it will strike the final nail in the coffin of existing Indian democratic apparatus.
