The contract for public access TV management in Austin has been awarded to the Austin Film Society as of October 1.
The change has resulted in a temporary cessation of broadcasting while AFS, with new staff and new responsibilities get up to speed (a large undertaking, but they are enthusiastic and ambitious, it seems to me.)
I attended a meeting for producers a few days ago. The present plan is to resume all series on December 1. I am working to see if we can get an exception for DemocracyNow! Doug Gray is willing to help with that. I will keep the list informed of everything I find out. My Producer Access will be $120, and I will pay that on November 1. I'm not sure what the charge for the series will be. the Summer Series this year was $175. Those who helped with that get my admiration and thanks. A few generous people have kept this effort going.
Meanwhile, until TV access resumes, Democracy Access offers streaming at
http://www.democracynow.org. They also have a channel available for Roku viewing, should you have one of those gadgets. I believe FreeSpeech TV also broadcasts the show.
Still, we want the ease and accessibility of Cable TV access. I'll keep you updated.
