A firmware update from Mayflash is required to unlock a new mode by pressing and holding [MODE] on the Dolphinbar (as shown in this short tutorial). The LEDs will remain powered on for 4 hours before shutting down. It is possible to directly connect a Wiimote to the bar to use it regularly though.
