You know how neglected caregivers are in India. Here's some good news: a team keen to set up a caregiver community in India had been in touch with me. The people involved seem energetic and committed.
I am separately sending you the mailer they have sent me. It would be great if you can respond to the mailer and also send it to everyone you know, so that the team gets the data they need to set up the community effectively.
Basically, in the mailer, they are asking for any information/ feedback that caregivers can offer, such as how Caregivers feel and how they experience their role and their interactions with home, family, friends, community, workspace, medical and paramedical support, social life and etc.
They also have more detailed questionnaires that they would like people to fill, if they can spare time. I have, on my website, set up a page with their message and with download links for their questionnaires (see: http://swapnawrites.com/caregivers-link/ ) I have also written a blog entry, hoping to stir people into responding (see: http://swapnawrites.wordpress.com/2010/07/21/caregiver-community-karma/ )
As you are very well connected with caregivers, and also with professionals and doctors involved with caregivers, your input would be very valuable to the team. Also, you are in a position to forward the mailer to many people who may be interested--a small effort by you could make a major difference to the amount of input the team gets. And any caregiver community created with input such as yours, would definitely help the cause you and I are so committed to, and the people we are so deeply involved with.
Would appreciate any energy you can spare for this.
