Hello Deep Learning @ UGA Members,
Did you miss us? We hope everyone survived their midterms and is ready to come out and gain some deep learning knowledge at our next meeting, this coming Monday, October 22, 10am-11am in Boyd 208. Our speaker is one of the UGA Computer Science Department’s newest faculty additions, Dr. Sheng Li.
Dr. Li received his Ph.D. in computer engineering from Northeastern University in 2017, and worked as a research scientist at Adobe Research for the last year. He is a highly published researcher, with over 65 papers, three best paper awards/nominations, and the positions of Associate Editor, SPC member, and PC member at numerous leading conferences and journals. We are extremely excited for his presentation titled Adversarial Training for Sequential Data, where he will be speaking to us about the development and real-world applications of a novel adversarial training technique, which improves the robustness of sequence classification in areas such as e-Commerce, natural language processing (NLP), and remote sensing. He will also highlight some of his ongoing research regarding action recognition and answer selection.
More information can be found in the attached flyer and on our website: https://delug.github.io. Dr. Li has a wealth of knowledge and we are very excited for him to share some of it with us on Monday; we hope to see you there! As always, please reach out to any one of the student committee members (e-mail addresses listed below) if you have any questions, comments, or concerns.
Until Monday,
The Deep Learning @ UGA Student Committee
