Hello DeLUG Community!

The Deep Learning @ UGA (DeLUG) student organization is excited to announce our upcoming speaker, scheduled to present less than one week away on Monday September 24, 10am-11am in Boyd 208. Dr. Stephane Pinel is coming to us from the MailChimp headquarters in Atlanta where he manages two Data Science teams in charge of look-alike-audience expansion and customer engagement metrics. Currently a Sr. Manager of Data Science and Solution Architect, Dr. Pinel has worked on the development of large-scale recommendation engines, search engines, and delivery via API at Cox Automotive, and has crafted Merchandise and Financial Planning (MFP) solutions and supply chain management solutions for large retailers including ToysRus, Walgreens, and Best Buy. We are very excited for his talk and we look forward to the opportunity to pick his brain in the small setting provided at DeLUG meetings.

As an administrative note, if you’d like to sign up for our listserv or Slack channel, please sign up using the following link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScp_IBHVHBejGCpMmeHnEVyh9-RvXA3MNxbZimt1IDje__ycw/viewform

**CALL FOR SPEAKERS**: We still need one more speaker for this semester’s October 8 meeting. Please let us know if you are or someone you know is interested in speaking on anything related to Deep Learning (presenting is the best way to learn!). If you’d like to speak but cannot present on October 8th, still let us know and we’ll reach out later to schedule you for next semester!

As always, please let us know if you have any questions or concerns (the Student Committee members’ emails are listed below), and we hope to see you this coming Monday!

Best,
The Deep Learning @ UGA Student Committee

Muhammed (Sy) Ahmed, Vice President

Zach Jones, Treasurer

Nick Angelastro, PR Chair
