BIG SIS WEEK TEAM COMIN AT YA—

This is a LONG e-mail, sparknotes are at the bottom. But please read the entirety of it when you have time!!

While all of you are enjoying the snow, please start thinking and planning for the best time of the spring--big sis week.

It’ s time for our pledge class to start putting on the best week of our little’s lives.  This involves the expertise of every single one of us. Here’s what we need to do:

Since there is such a massive amount of events and things to do, we are requiring every girl in our pledge class to create one event for big sis week. (If you are feeling particularly inspired, feel free to do more).  We are asking that these events be due on MARCH 1st.  This means completing a TWO STEP PROCESS:

1.     Send us (Sarah Kearsley and Mads Shaw) a word document detailing your idea for an event.  This event needs to be finalized.  As in, you have called outside parties, thought about dates, times, financial details etc.  Below is a list of details we are requiring per event:

a.     Money [please be precise]

b.     Number of girls/Capacity

c.      Date

d.     Price

e.     Phone numbers and contacts with outside connections.

f.      Anything else you can think that we will need.

g.     You have to call the venue/make sure outside connections are confirmed.

h.     Please be THOROUGH. It's so important that you have nailed down the details and finances of the event so that everything is feasible when it comes time to sign up your littles!

I.    Submit a Title/brief description of your event on this Google doc: https://docs.google.com/a/virginia.edu/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AgK8RD1x_AOgdDJ1ME90VE04SWt0SjJjMTh6aWRYVnc&usp=sharing

This is so we don't have any "repeats" of planned events.

HERE ARE SOME THINGS TO THINK ABOUT WHEN PLANNING:

*BIG SIS WEEK IS March 17-March 20th.

*These are SOBER events.   We have always had and will have a dry big sis week.

*Keep in mind that a significant amount of our pledge class will be taking twins. Therefore, think about affordability when planning events.  For those of you not taking twins, we will be splitting the cost of “twins” and charging everyone on Greekbill to help the girls out who are taking twins.

*LASTLY, Here are some ideas/events from the past to help you start thinking:

-Pole Dancing

-Bikram Yoga

-Mani/Pedi

-Swing Dancing

-Sweet Frog

-S’mores

-Dinner with Athletic teams

-Lunch with Fraternities

-Lunch downtown

-fro-yo

-fiji food fight

-move night

-Tie-dying

-cupcake decorating at sweet haus

-melting pot fondue

-chi phi paint fight

-dinners at boylan/mellow mushroom/lemongrass etc etc

-cookie baking

-pigeon hole

-dinner on the lawn

-arches

-sand volleyball

-bodo’s anytime, anywhere

-acapella groups (lunch or singing)

-photo shoot (last year it was with Andrew Kouri)

-flight over Cville

SPARKNOTES

-Create and send in at least ONE big sis week event to Madeleine Shaw or Sarah Kearsley by MARCH FIRST

-Post the same event on the google doc link: https://docs.google.com/a/virginia.edu/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AgK8RD1x_AOgdDJ1ME90VE04SWt0SjJjMTh6aWRYVnc&usp=sharing

We seriously want to thank all of you in advance for helping with this.  We have such wonderful beautiful babies and we want this to be the best week of their lives, just like it was for us.  PLEASE do not hesitate to contact either Madeleine or Sarah with any questions.

After we receive all the submissions, Sarah and I will compile a "master" google-doc with the schedule and events for you guys to sign up your littles on.  This google doc will open MARCH 4TH.

LAST THING: Kristen Parker will be collecting a top 5 list of bigs/little from your pledge class and the new member class on February 23rd before/after chapter. You They will also need to indicate on their list whether you want to take twins, you are indifferent, or you definitely do not want to take twins.

The list of girls who can definitely take littles will be finalized shortly.  Then we will be able to know how many girls will take twins, and how much money our pledge class will be charged on Greekbill.
