Position Overview:
You are a seasoned Senior Network Engineer who is energetic, well spoken, and confident to run with projects. You are an ace with networking CLI and you are no stranger to Unix or Linux OS, often preferring the command line over a GUI client. You step up to challenges and can run with tasks, and you can think outside of the box when required. You are someone who enjoys network system architecting while being extremely hands with all network devices, often performing most of the heavy lifting.
You manage to find time to be involved with business and IT project meetings. You are a self starter having a wide skill set and drive completion for projects for a successful deployment. You pride yourself as being the “go to person” and take accountability for the network you administer.
As a Sr. Network Engineer, you are comfortable with multi-tasking, handling frequent interruptions. You can skillfully work with technical and non-technical users, and are comfortable working within a live E-commerce infrastructure . You are strong in process orientation, and are willing to be on the 24x7 on-call rotation.
 
Responsibilities:
Network SLA uptimes for all production and non-prod environments.
24x7 Network On Call Support .
Network performance and fault diagnosis /troubleshooting all network devices (routers, firewalls, switches, circuits, protocols).
Successful resolution of network issues pertaining to the support of both an e-commerce and corporate network infrastructures.
Perform and schedule preventative maintenance and periodic high availability testing on all network equipment.
Design logical and physical network elements meeting business and technical requirements adhering to industry best practices, Hotwire Information Security policy as well as, PCI and SOX regulations.
Run proof of concepts, Evaluate and recommend vendor solutions for appropriate hardware and software products.
Plan and perform hardware upgrades and software [CATOS /IOS] upgrades.
Schedule, seek sign off and Implement configurations changes to the network.
Participate with team peer approval process for network changes and ensure all change management processes are followed.
Work closely with other members of the IT Department to ensure that network issues and project milestones are met in a timely manner.
Provision circuit turn ups and deployments , often acting as a project manager for all parties involved (ISP, LEC, etc)
Vendor engagement for support. (Cisco's Technical Assistance Center)
Update, Audit and maintain network VISO diagrams and processes, support contracts, SLA agreements.
Ensure network devices are monitored, and reports on performance trends.
Build and maintain Network monitoring systems, threshold settings and alerting placing all findings an a team Run-book.
 
Qualifications:
Fluent with routing protocols (link state protocol and distance vector protocols) with a strength towards OSPF and BGP.
Experience in Unix Solaris 8,9,10 and/or Linux Red Hat/CentOS command line and troubleshooting techniques.
Strong understand of protocols and technologies for network infrastructure support ; DNS, TELNET, PING, TCP/IP, Multicast, Unicast, Load balancing ,High Availability protocols, subnetting /VLANs, frame relay, MPLS, VPN, IPSec, GRE tunnels and route summarization.
Experience with Cisco devices [ Switching; 3700 & 6500 series / Firewalls: PIX 525-535 and ASA5500 series / Routers: 7200 series NPE-xx engine] and Citrix Netscalar Load balancing solution desirable.
MS office suite - VISIO, MS Excel, Project,
 
Work Experience and Education Guidelines:
Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience
6+ years of network experience, preferably with an e-commerce company having 3+ years in a senior administration role.
2+ years of Unix/Linux experience
Cisco Certified Training, CCNA, CCNP ; (active preferred)
 
Core Competencies:
Cisco Devices: 7200VXRseries Routers, PIX and ASA series Firewalls,3700 & 6500 series switches.
Network OS: Cisco CATOS and IOS releases
Load balancer: Citrix NetScaler (preferred)
Routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, IGRP, EIGRP)
Operation systems: Unix Solaris 8-10, Linux, and Windows (preferred)
