The issue occurs when a browser flap with the netlfix player stays open for a long time or the MPC HC player stays open for a long time. If one issue issue, the other will already be. For example, MPC HC is open a long time and the issue occurs, closing it and opening netflix in the browser, it will already be with the issue.
While the small continuous crashes occur, closing the netflix flap or closing the MPC HC window, the crashes disappear, but immediately come back if I try to open them again, making it impossible to use the PC.
PS: I'm not confident that the new versions of the drivers have resolved the issue ... And getting back to previous driver versions because of that is not at all interesting considering the support for new games.
i can confirm this issue, upon opening a video file with MPC-HC, PC freezes, affecting even the mouse cursor, this happens for about 5 seconds before the video is finally opened, when this happens on MPC-HC, Netflix on Chrome also behaves the same. the only way to resolve this is to restart windows, log out and log back in does not work.
I can stream Netflix just fine when I play it using my Chrome browser. But, when I try to play Netflix using Safari (version 10.0), I get one or two frames of video, and then a black screen. I still have all of the controls and slider and I still get sound, but the video is just a black screen.
I just now tried it again using Safari, and got code S7363-1260-48444350 when trying to play a video. The code referred to an incompatible monitor. I tried again, and got the same issue as before, where I get a few frames of the video, and then the video goes black, but I can hear the audio and I still have control of the playback (e.g., play/pause, volume, etc.).
When I unplugged my external monitors and used only the laptop screen, the video played. So, I now know that the problem has something to do with my external monitors being connected to my laptop, even if I'm trying to play the video on my laptop screen.
Simple solution (os High Sierra) but Netflix have so far ignored my message! Forget all their solutions particularly concerning Silver Light, as that is no longer needed. This only began for me with Safari 11.0.1. I was able to connect using FireFox without issue so it had to be Safari settings.
Thanks, but I've already done an Internet search to find a solution to my problem. I've re-installed the latest version of Silverlight, and that hasn't helped. Also, Chrome works just fine with Netflix, which I think also uses Silverlight. I've also tried restarting the computer and the other typical non-specific solutions.
- I do get the display error thing (thunderbolt > VGA displays attached). Checked with develop tab if netflix works in safari 10 (don't see another version of safari in the list). However, if I select 'firefox: mac' and allow the silverlight plugin (that I just installed) then it works.
If the issue is the HTML5 player (since in older safari versions with silverlight, it does work), how do I force Netflix to use silverlight? It seems it always reverts back to HTML5, even if silverlight's installed.
I'm looking for some help here as phoning Virgin Media for help is such a waste of time. Everytime I try to get on Netflix all I get is an info box telling me that Netflix isn't launching with an error code of either CS2300 or CS2400. Other apps, like ITV X, BBC i player etc, I keep having to sign in to, so I go through all that and 9 times out of ten I end up not being able to get onto these as well. It's getting very frustrating and as my contract ends in 4-5 months I am seriously thinking, after about 25 years of being with Virgin Media (Telewest as it was) of moving to some other provider
Hi @chrisreed52 Thank you for your post and welcome to the Virgin Media Community
We're sorry to hear about the problems you've been having and that you're thinking of leaving us
Have you tried searching for the error codes, specifically CS2400, and following the advice provided? You can do so by clicking here.
Regarding signing in to ITVX and BBC iPlayer, what's actually preventing you from doing so? Is it not accepting your sign in details?
Please pop back to us at your earliest convenience and we'll do our very best to help.
Regards,
Daniel
While watching a netflix video on a Netflix site, my goal is to have a userscript invoke the playback controls programmatically. Specifically, the volume, level, play/pause state, and time position of the video.
I've been able to manipulate the html5 video element itself, but controlling that directly does not provide the needed netflix control bar feedback to the user. (i.e. video is paused, but the control bar still shows it as playing).
My approach thus far has been to try and locate the elements that represent the "buttons" you click when using the normal controls, and trigger their click events through the userscript. But I can't seem to isolate the proper elements. Additionally netflix is using a javascript compressor/obfuscator which increases the difficulty of finding the proper elements that represent the buttons on the control bar.
The console.log statements are showing some of the things I've found so far. But I haven't figured out how to invoke functions off them, or which of them might have what I'm looking for (I think largely due to the javascript compressor making it difficult for me to follow the code).
You can then use the API to perform various commands on the Netflix player, such as seeking (by using player.seek() with the number of milliseconds in the parentheses), playing or pausing the video (by using player.play() or player.pause() respectively), or controlling the volume (by using player.setVolume() with the value in the parentheses, with 1 being 100 percent and 0 being 0 percent).
So, for example, to get the "button" that controls play and pause, you could use: document.getElementsByClassName("player-control-button player-play-pause")[0]. Then to click it programmatically in tampermonkey, you simply invoke the click event using:
And I haven't figured out a way around that yet (though if your seek is just "fast forward" a bit, you could decrease the video size, set the playback rate to super high, then bring it back down to normal when it reaches the desired location I suppose).
So we need to find a different way to send the seek command. Apparently at one point there was a netflix.cadmium.objects.videoPlayer() or netflix.player javascript objects available with a seek method, however they appear to be absent now.
I have same issue. About 3 weeks ago, the video didnt work only netflix and youtube app. I shut down my phone. Unfortunately, it wasnt perfect solution. I also did reset all settings. It seemed to have solved problem completely, but I get same issue now. I want to know which thing occurs this problem, with apps or IOS? No matter what it is, it needs to be updated.
Reset app, check fir firmware upgrade, factory reset TV, unplugged from mains and just about anything else I can think of including talking to Netflix who say the issue is not with them. Netflix is completely stable on my laptop, tablet and phone.
Welcome to the community. I'm not sure if you've seen this previous topic with similar issues, it might have some other tests/checks you can try. There are also some troubleshooting guides for your TV here.
I have exactly the same issue on my bravia 50w829b. It used to happen in the past from time to time but last month it's like that all the time. Yes - logout completely from netflix and login again typing credentials manually worked out for me also, but this is ridiculous. I am after extensive logs/test data exchange between sony & netflix regarding this issue but Netflix checked it out and told me they can't do anything here. Hopefully they'll find the solution soon because this is extremely annoying and looks like nobody cares to fix it (that's why I sent a lot of technical info including images & technical data to Sony to help them reproduce the defect). Please send this issue to sony also, so they can know this is not one person's problem.
Hi everyone - I just moved into a new house that came with a lovely Sony tv and I'm having this problem. Netflix will work for a bit, and then decide that it doesn't want to anymore and as soon as I press play on something it kicks me to a black screen that says HDMI 1/MHL at the top, with a little box that's got an arrow coming in from the left. Anyone got any answers yet? I don't know what model the TV is... if anyone knows where I'll find that info, lemme know. It's wall mounted so I can't see behind the tv itself haha... THANKS = )
I'm getting the run around by Sony Australia. First suggested to do a factory reset of the TV which I did. This did not solve the issue. They also suggested a log off from all devices via the Netflix website. Did make a difference the first few goes, but issue is back after just a few viewing sessions.
They then suggested changes to the Network DNS which does not make sense IMHO. Also a dead end. They are now suggesting that there is something wrong with the motherboard and I should get it replaced, of course for a fee... IMHO this is total nonsense as there is nothing wrong with the other apps and just an attempt to have me give up on pursuing this any further. The only way that this could solve problems if it was a compatibility issues between the revision of the motherboard I'm using and Netflix. If that is the case I shouldn't be paying for the fix...
