WeComis a communication platform for enterprises that includes convenient communication and office automation tools. Similar to Weixin and WeChat, it offers smooth communication experience, as well as various OA applications. In addition, WeCom is integrated with Weixin, providing unmatched connectivy that facilitates smart management, smart ecosystem and smart services for enterprises.

WeCom is equipped with light OA applications, providing a wide array of third-party applications and over 200 APIs for enterprises to access and run their own applications, enabling unified and convenient management of work applications on one single platform. These enable employees to work on the go.

WeCom is integrated with Weixin in terms of chat, Mini Programs and Weixin Pay, enabling enterprises to provide high-quality customer services to external parties. Staff are able to use WeCom to communicate with and serve its customers who are using Weixin or WeChat in a consistent and professional manner. The customer relationship will be retained by the company, and will be preserved even after the employee moves on.

Leveraging Tencent's industry-leading security capabilities, WeCom also provides reliable enterprise data protection. We have obtained several certifications from international authorities, such as SOC2 Type 1 Report and ISO/IEC27018.

With many offices adopting a hybrid work structure, businesses are actively searching for online messaging and video-conferencing tools that can simplify the experience. However, what works globally may not work as effectively in China. Enter WeCom.

WeCom is a corporate communication and office tool created by the Tencent WeChat team. It has the same communication experience as WeChat, rich OA applications, and the ability to connect with WeChat ecosystem. It can help companies connect internally, connect with ecosystem partners, and connect with consumers. It is also important to note that WeCom has an API, allowing you to access and integrate the functionality of WeChat with other applications (however, in most cases this API allows data into WeChat, but only allows limited data out).

Chinese users spend an average of two hours a day on WeChat. There are approximately 1.3 billion WeChat users as of March 2023. This covers more than 92% of China's population. WeCom's messaging interface is more or less the same as WeChat, which greatly reduces the difficulty of using WeCom and makes it easier for employees to start work directly.

WeCom provides a wealth of OA functions and applications, such as attendance check-in, process approval, financial reimbursement, job reporting and document management. These functions help enterprises to conveniently and efficiently manage employees and customer interactions.

WeCom is the first enterprise office product in China that has passed the SOC2Type2 audit. It has international authority certification and bank-level encryption level, which provides a reliable guarantee for corporate data security.

WeCom is not only a tool for internal collaboration of the enterprise but also connected with external customers and turned into a CRM tool. In other words, you can directly reach 1.15 billion WeChat users through WeCom.

WeChat Work is a separate app from WeChat developed as a tool to improve communication in companies but also to optimize the relationship with customers. The app is free, but only Chinese companies can create an account. Moreover, if you want to have access to all the features, a company needs to pay 300 RMB per year to have the account verified by WeChat.

Thanks to the use of WeChat Work, users can fully concentrate on work-related activities, thus separating the personal space from the workspace. But not only. WeChat Work is now used by many companies in China for partner and customer management, thus proving to be an excellent tool for both B2B and B2C.

When WeChat became popular in 2011, many people started using the app in the workplace as well. This contributed to its diffusion but at the same time the request was born to have a communication tool that separated personal life from working life.

Tencent initially addressed the problem in 2014 with the creation of corporate accounts (Enterprise Accounts 企业 号) within WeChat and subsequently with the addition of corporate messages (企业 消息) which gave the possibility of being able to group all business chats in one folder. But in 2016 there was a turning point with the launch of a new app: WeChat Work 企业 微 信. It was initially not very well received by users but day after day companies have started adopting the new app, so much so that in 2019 80% of the top 500 Chinese companies joined WeChat Work and the total number of registered business accounts exceeded 1.5 million.

Compared to the regular WeChat app, WeChat Work's internal communication features are much more advanced. WeChat Work can host up to 2,000 users in a group chat (on WeChat groups can contain a maximum of 500 contacts), therefore ideal for large companies. But that's not all.

WeChat Work is designed as an instant messaging application for internal communications and management. WeChat Work is now a digital ecosystem that connects various corporate organizations, services, and consumers. WeChat Work users will see that the app has the same communication experience as the standard WeChat application, albeit more professional than others.

WeChat Work was developed since there was friction between management and employees regarding WeChat usage. Tencent first addressed the issue using Enterprise Accounts that worked within WeChat during the fall of 2014 and Enterprise Messaging in the summer of 2015. Tencent then broke out the enterprise function into a separate app that became WeChat Work in April 2016.

The WeChat Work application is better suited for companies than the standard app, especially since its internal communication features are more advanced than WeChat. The application is limited to enterprises, government bodies, and organizations in Mainland China.

Internal contacts can be segregated into different departments and be assigned varying permission levels. External communications can also be separated to avoid any miscommunications. Admins can also access exclusive company management features, including adding or modifying departments, setting user roles, checking weekly summary member usage, and others.

Unfortunately, since WeChat Work disabled enterprise messaging API, companies could no longer sync company chats to company servers. Businesses in industries with compliance obligations, however, may be able to access chat history when they know someone at Tencent to help them.

WeChat Work can also get users to focus on work-related activities alone by separating personal space from the workspace. Using the application, employees can send work-related messages without accidentally sending them to friends and families since the contacts are segregated.

The standard WeChat application cannot integrate different tailor-made apps to streamline business processes. WeChat Work users can take advantage of reports, business expenses approvals, employees punch in/out, company-paid calls, and enterprise emails by integrating applications into the messaging app.

People can also use third-party apps like a mobile office, CRM, human resources, workflow management, and others that can be added on demand. Admins can also use specific applications that regular users have no access to. The admin-only option can be accessed via Workspace> Manage Company > Log in to the Web admin platform.

The sales and customer service teams can communicate more effectively with their clients and customers, thanks to the streamlined communications system. The customers can also be directed to the right sales or customer service agent after making their inquiries.
