Promoted builds not showing

I've read that this plugin is able to handle promoted builds, but I cannot get it to work.

I currently have 2 projects, the first is set with a manual promotion. The second builds upon promotion of the first.
I've added the first build as a "component" on the delivery pipeline and enabled show promoted jobs. Only the first build show up though.

If I set the first project to build the second, it shows up, but this obviously bypasses promotion, so I don't want to do that.
Am I doing something wrong or is the promoted feature broken?

Would an option be to use manual triggers between the two jobs instead?
