Dear friends,
 
Team DCC thank you all for your great renspose and confirming to partipate in the DCC Climate Bicycle Ride in Delhi on Sunday, December 05, 2010.
 
We are confirming to arrange extra bicycles during the ride on first cum first serve basis to all those who have sent their request till 5.00 pm today. You are requested to collect them at the start venue (Ambedkar Nagar T-point parking) from our volunteers between 07.15 am and 07.45 am.
 
We have also extended the registration deadline to tomorrow. Please find below the event details incase some missed them.

Dear friends,

Delhi Cycling Club (DCC) cordially invites you to participate in its ‘4th
Climate Bicycle Ride’ (11-kms) being organised in Delhi on Sunday, 5th
December, 2010 on BRT corridor between Ambedkar Nagar Terminal and
MoolChand.


The event is likely to be attended by many cycling enthusiasts from Delhi
and NCR cities like Gurgaon, Noida, Greater Noida, Faridabad, and
Ghaziabad and people from different walks of life, age group and
profession.


Key objectives of the event are to: 1) raise awareness about climate
change and rising vehicular pollution; and 2) promote Cycling, Walking and
Public Transport as the most healthy and environment-friendly way of
commuting within the city.


There ride will cover 11-kms distance and will start at 0800 hrs from
Ambedkar Nagar T-point and  pass through Lal Bahadur Shashtri Marg, Chirag
Delhi Flyover, Moolchand Flyover, and culminate again at Ambedkar Nagar
T-point around 0930 hrs. A route map link has been attached for your

REGISTRATION

Registration is free and the event is open to all. You just need to send
us your request for participation along with the following details: 1)
name, 2) age, 3) phone no., 4) email ID, and 5) locality either though
email at: delhicyc...@gmail.com or through SMS on mobile number:
9990-22-66-44 before 5.00 PM, Saturday, 4th December, 2010.


SOME EXTRA BICYCLES WILL BE AVAILABLE

We are arranging some extra cycles at the venue which would be available
free of cost for the ride on first-come-first serve basis to participants
who don’t own a bicycle presently or find it difficult to bring them to
the venue. To avoid any inconvenience, you are requested to let us know in
advance about your bicycle requirement.


ASSEMBLY TIME & VENUE

You are requested to assemble by 07.45 AM at the parking lot near Ambedkar
Nagar T-point. Those participants who would be availing our bicycle
facility or people who would be cycling in real traffic for the first time
or after a long gap they are requested to arrive at the venue
30-45-minutes before the start so that they could be given some useful
cycling/road safety tips and allocated the bicycle by our volunteers
before the ride.


Climate Bicycle Ride programme was launched by Delhi Cycling Club in June
2009 as a first of its kind initiative and so far have organised three
such events during the last one and half years with active support and
participation from organisations like DIMTS, ITDP and The Open Planning
Project, Firefox Bicyces etc.


If you want to extend volunteer support to DCC in organising and/or
learning of conducting events like this, then please send us a mail and we
would be happy to have your involvement as part of our organising team.


We would be very grateful if you can set aside some time from your busy
schedule to join our cycling event on Sunday.


Your presence and support is key to the success of this event and also in
promoting an important environmental and public cause.

NOTE:

1.           Please remember this not a cycling race event or competition.
We would only be cycling in slow to moderate speed on the bicycle
lane/curb side along the route.

2.           During the Cycling Ride following of all the Traffic Rules
and Taking Adequate Road Safety precautions will be sole responsibility of
participant(s).

3.           Some extra bicycles are being arranged at the venue to
participants at the ride on first-cum-first-serve basis without any
charges provided they collect it 20-30 minutes prior to the start and
return it safety immediately after the ride is over. If there are any
damages or mishandling found with allocated bicycle the user will have to
pay the charges.

ABOUT DCC

Delhi Cycling Club (DCC) is a non-profit group dedicated to bicycle
advocacy and to work towards making Delhi a cyclist-friendly city. Founded
in Oct'06, the group presently has over 1000-members comprising of bicycle
enthusiasts and people from different walks of life who feel for need to
have greener, safer and equitable transportation for all. Supported by The
Open Planning Project (TOPP) and Institute for Transportation &
development Policy (ITDP), the DCC has also been organizing regular
bicycle promotion rides, rallies, and workshops in Delhi for last 3-years.
