Namastey National Executive Members!

Thank you for updating the Cinemas for Cinema Classics' Module! The new list is a bouquet of different genres and languages. The updated list will help inspire a lot of students to appreciate and learn from quality cinema. It will give them a psychological motivation, bringing them closer to legendary film makers, societal issues and personified characters

The variety of modules helps us to provide a holistic education system to the youth. And a lot of effort is being put to have programs of different modules. Giving equal importance to each and every module is a priority many a times. A volunteer once asked in one of our Saturday meetings- "Why Holistic Food is not a frequent affair?" In an attempt to answer her query it was observed we have limited information, experience and knowledge of this wonderful module. Coincidentally we found it is also one of the least frequent activity in Delhi and NCR chapter.

Someone very rightly said- "we are what we eat". And while we are all aware of the rise of share and impact of junk/ fast/ processed foods in India. All-India survey of food served in school canteens (Hindustan Times, Delhi edition 30th Aug, Page 3) made us to rethink, uplifting this module (with a new approach) as we have a moral responsibility to make the young India aware of foods which are good for mind and soul! Just like we are helping them to understand and appreciate the different art forms, we must give them an opportunity to have "easy access" to good nutritious foods and beverages.

The Holistic Food Module demands urgent attention and immediate new policy formation to have an all year impact on each and every student. We suggest the followings:

>>To prepare a (
flavorsome and nutritious) holistic food and beverages' menu (reasonably and competitively priced) and guidelines for the canteen owners/staffs for the same. The menu can be planned consulting eminent people from medical, hospitality and health fraternity.

>>To gain support of chapters to offer the Holistic Food Menu where establishing a SPIC MACAY Holistic Food Canteen is not feasible.

>>To get support of concerned ministry

>>To establish SPIC MACAY Holistic Food Canteen at educatioal institutions' chapters where possible. It must have a faculty incharge who will periodically check the quality of food and services offered.

Please go through the following weblinks and videos which gives an information about junk foods and impact of eating habits.
