We are thrilled to announce the first Swara Mountain Arts Festival from May 29th-June 1st 2022
in Dharamsala, Himachal Pradesh. Organised by Jagori Grameen and One Billion Rising India, this festival will be an immersive artistic experiences and residential workshops with music, dance, nature walks, meditation for healing and well-being.
With four artists in residence, including Mallika Sarabai, Sumisha Shankar, Yunus Khimani and Tritha Sinha, it will be three days of creating, healing and being one with the mountains and yourself.

The festival offers three workshops, that will be simultaneously facilitated by the artsist in residence and you can register for any one. Here are briefs about the same.
1) Workshop in Music by Tritha Sinha - Vocalist, Composer, Activist & Sound Healer

Tritha will engage the participants in voice opening and training exercises, silent walks in nature, Tibetan bowl meditations, breathing techniques and introduce them to the therapeutic and healing aspects of Sound - Raagachikitsa & Chakra Meditation.
2) Workshop in dance and movement by Sumisha Shankar - Yoga Psychotherapist, Expressive Art & Movement Expert, Artist & Performer

Sumisha will engage the participants in movement and rhythm meditation which aims at simplifying the tools of self-healing for a fulfilled life. It is a creative inward journey of opening the hearts to the infinite possibilities of 'Atma-Shakti' (Inner Power)
through natural expressions and aesthetics. Based on the principles of Rasa theory of Natyashastra, Yoga-Sutras and Ayurveda, it brings the ancient wisdom in tune with the demands of modern-day lifestyle.
3) Workshop in art by Yunus Khimani - Artist, Design Educator & Material Experimenter

Yunus will share his perspective on nature and drawing through forest walks, besides conducting engaging workshops that will concentrate on reshaping or repurposing plastic (mainly HDPE) waste. The focus will be to introduce and initiate the participant to
this "exciting" material and some reshaping techniques that can be employed to create artworks in their own time.
The above are the facilitators and artists in residence
for the first three days - May 29th to May 31st, 2022. Venue: Jagori Rural Campus, Rakkar, Dharamshala, Himachal, India.
On June 1st, 2022 there is a special public performance by renowned Indian classical dance, performer, activist, Padma Bhushan Mallika Sarabhai Ji at Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts (TIPA), McLeodGanj, Himachal Pradesh.
This is a ticketed evening but included in the package for registered participants and is titled
'Past Forward - Time Travel With Bharatanatyam and Mallika'.
Participation Fee: Rs 12,000 inclusive of workshop fees, stay and meals at the venue for all four days.
Early bird pricing Rs 10,500 in case of registration and payment before May 15th. Non-residential participants pay
Rs.6000/- Travel to and from Dharamshala will be extra and
borne by participants on their own.
Travel to the venue:
The closest airport is Gaggal/ Dharamsala (25 mins taxi drive from the Jagori campus). The closest railway station is Pathankot (2.5 hours taxi drive from the Jagori campus). You can also fly or take a train to Chandigarh and drive for 5 hours to reach
us. There are also overnight Volvo buses from Delhi. If you are feeling like driving all the way from Delhi on your own, its about 11 hours. (Call Amit on 759189009 for logistics support)
