Apple made several exciting announcements on June 5th, 2023, during their Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). They revealed the upcoming releases of iOS 17, iPadOS 17, tvOS 17, watchOS 10, and macOS 14 Sonoma. This document aims to provide clear information about the updates included in these releases and how they will affect Workspace ONE UEM.
Workspace ONE does not officially support the enrollment of beta versions of new operating systems. While we encourage our customers to test out these new versions in lab configurations, and to ensure that their production environments will be compatible, expect various issues during the testing. VMware will work to ensure that these releases are fully supported by the time they are formally released.
Important Notice: It is strongly advised to refrain from installing unsupported beta releases in production environments. We highly recommend adhering to your Workspace ONE guidelines regarding software updates.
VMware is currently testing our productivity apps and UEM features with the new versions of iOS, iPadOS, and macOS. Please refer to the table below for version compatibility with the latest Apple releases. This table will be updated as our testing progresses.
Since the apple breeding program began at the University of Minnesota in 1878, 29 apple varieties have been released. Some University-developed varieties are no longer available, so we have listed all the current U of M varieties, many of which you can purchase from local nurseries and orchards.
The University's apple program has released several well-known apple varieties, including Honeycrisp, in its 100+ year-long history. Kudos was bred from a cross between Honeycrisp and Zestar!. Much like other varieties released by the University, including 2021's release, First Kiss (Rave outside of Minnesota), Honeycrisp is serving as a parent to the apples of the future.
David Bedford, a senior research fellow at the U of M's apple breeding program, describes the selection process as a 1 in 10,000 chance of being released. The program selects apple cultivars for disease resistance and flavor, and it can take up to 25 years for an apple to go through the many trials needed before it gets released to the public.
Minnesota's apple breeding program originally began researching cold hardy apple varieties that could withstand Minnesota's harsher climate. In a new era of warming temperatures, that may begin to change.

In this work, lignite, a low-grade coal, was modified using the solid-phase activation method with the aid of a Pd/CeO2 nanoparticle catalyst to improve its pore structure and nutrient absorption. Results indicate that the adsorption ability of the activated lignite to NO3-, NH4+, H2PO4-, and K+ was significantly higher than that of raw lignite. The activated lignite was successfully combined with the polymeric slow-release fertilizer, which exhibits typical slow-release behavior, to prepare the super large granular activated lignite slow-release fertilizer (SAF). In addition to the slow-release ability, the SAF showed excellent water-retention capabilities. Soil column leaching experiments further confirmed the slow-release characteristics of the SAF with fertilizer nutrient loss greatly reduced in comparison to traditional and slow-release fertilizers. Furthermore, field tests of the SAF in an orchard showed that the novel SAF was better than other tested fertilizers in improve the growth of young apple trees. Findings from this study suggest that the newly developed SAF has great potential to be used in apple cultivation and production systems in the future.
