Hello, DelcoAD,

There's been a lot of silence during the tax season, and I sent out an email on February 28 to which nobody replied. (Though as I now learn, it may never have reached your inbox. Something wrong with our email system, or something I fail to understand.) We are all very busy, particularly during tax season, so this lack of communication is understandable.  Now it's the end of the first week of April, and I believe we are going to have to change our "usual" post-season practice to suit the time demands of both the space available at Swarthmore (its not easy to find anything appropriate at this late date...for Swarthmore, this is everyone's "end of the year" lectures, programs, presentations of work, etc.) and the time demands of the students, now preparing for finals.  

 

May I suggest that you send the certificates to Swarthmore, and we'll design a "thank you" that is appropriate and does not require rooms or blocks of time, plus the expense of food. We can have the coordinators design an announcement with the totals for the County, including #s, refund amounts, EITC benefits accessed, and CHIP or other resources accessed, and distributed to each volunteer. Perhaps each of the site hosts can include a note of personal thanks with site-specific numbers? 

 

Just to be clear, I think that this will be fine in terms of thanks and encouragement for next year. Our students are over-concentrated on final projects, theses, and final exams at this point, and are not expecting an event....their focus will shift the minute their final assisted tax form has been submitted.

 

We will reconvene to discuss the future of DelcoAD toward the start of June, I imagine?
