Hello, Delco AD,

We are having a tough time getting traction for the upcoming tax season!  Just to kick-start the discussion, I offer the following to get us moving in the same direction again:

DRAFT - please comment
1 Conduct a doodle poll to find a steady time and day of the month to meet. Establish this time and day and at each meeting, decide if we need to meet in person the following month on the selected day, or if we can skip a month.

2 Swarthmore will be happy to host all the meetings (snacks included), once we determine time and day (and assuming that we have a room available at that time...time is of the essence here!)

3 Rehire Meagan to produce meeting agenda, take and distribute minutes, collect data, relay information. (until a VISTA has been identified and trained?) We should discuss how many hours we'll need her help and if we can afford it!; OR we rotate agenda/minutes-taking/meeting reminder duties  

Responses to this draft by August 25, expectation to select meeting schedule by August 30, first meeting by September 25.  

C'mon, gang....up and at 'em!  We have money to return to our constituent families!

Hello Deb,

 

Thank you for your diligence with this.  Here are my responses:

1.       I am good with the Meeting days of Wednesday or Friday and would prefer that the meeting time be either (;30 or 10AM

2.       I would also suggest that we hold some of the meetings by conference call if we do not have anything that needs our face to face attention.  There are free conference call services that we can use to set up a line

3.       I agree with rehiring Meagan

4.       Lastly, if Swarthmore does not have a room for a meeting, I can offer our training room which is usually available during the day.

Sorry for the slow reply.  I was traveling and dealing with some family issues last week.

Anyway, I agree to all of Deb's proposal and Toni's responses.  I also prefer a morning time of 9:30 or 10 though the day of the week is less critical.  I just need something standing so it's in my calendar well in advance.  Right now, I still have a standing 2nd Wed morning at 9:30 on my calendar...  if it ain't broke...

Also, I might have found a VISTA candidate, emphasis on might.  Will let you know as soon as I know more.

Hi All,

 

I apologize for the delay in responding – I have been out of the office between both meetings and personal time off – so I am scrambling to catch up –

 

I am fine with striving to establish a “regular” meeting time – but given how much many of us juggle and how scheduling of other commitments is often beyond our control, I would hope that we can be flexible in recognizing that a “standing” date/time will not work every month if we want to maximize participation.

 

Given our financial picture, I think we need to make a decision between Meaghan and a VISTA.  I will support whatever decision the group endorses.

 

Should we anticipate meeting on September 10 at 9:30 or 10 at Swarthmore?

Hello, all,

Here are the proposed meeting dates/times, below. Jenny, due to the Lang Center's schedule, a meeting on Tuesday or Thursday morning would be impossible to schedule in this building. You'll either miss two meetings, we can Skype or speakerphone you in, or you are WELCOME to bring Henry with you! 

We should discuss the VISTA hire that Hillary mentioned first, so that we can either make an offer to Meagan or let her know that the position has been filled by a VISTA.

Proposed Delco AD meeting schedule:

All meetings Wednesday at 9:30 am - 10:30 am, Keith Room at the Lang Center (coffee and snack provided):
September 10
October 8
November 12
December 10
January 14
February 11
March 11

VITA Training Day at Swarthmore is Saturday, January 24, 9 am 

Please RSVP for the meeting on the 10th, so I have a sense of how many of us will attend.

Hi everyone,

I will not be able to attend this meeting and all the other meetings scheduled on Wednesday for the next six months since I will be on my probation period for a new position I accepted starting this Friday.  I cannot attend this Wednesday since it conflicts with the time of my exit interview.   

I am also not sure if Centro will be able to be a site during this upcoming tax season.  I am trying to recruit someone from our community to take on the responsibility of running the site.  I will let you know if I am successful or not hopefully by month's end. 

I wish all the best and may this be our coalition's most successful season yet!!,
