This is a reminder that my FREE Thread Mastery Webinar is in 2 days, on May 4, 2026. I hope you will join me. Preregistration is not necessary. You will be able to join the Zoom session 30 minutes prior to the start time. We will send a reminder a few hours before.

I never charge for teaching. So far this year, I have taught 34 Thread Mastery seminars.
  • 18 via Zoom to quilt guilds and 16 in-person at quilt shows.
  • The seminars average 45 minutes plus Q&A.
  • 55 more seminars are currently scheduled for 2026 and 2027.
My goal isn't just to talk about thread or sell thread. My goal is to help you be more successful in your quilting and sewing. I am confident that I can solve 99% of thread/needle/tension issues and explain and debunk many quilting-related myths.
  • Is the thread breaking, fraying, or shredding? I can fix that.
  • Is the thread excessively linty? I can fix that.
  • What's the shelf life of thread?
  • How to tell if Grandma's thread is OK to use.
  • and so much more.
We're offering a FREE seminar on May 4th at 5:00 p.m. (Mountain Time) via Zoom. The Zoom limit is 300 participants.

Bob Purcell has been in the thread, quilting, and sewing industry for nearly thirty years. He and his wife started and built one of the most successful specialized thread companies in the world. They sold that company in 2016, with the intent of enjoying retirement life with family and grandchildren.

Several years later, Bob, who has no hobbies other than work and grandchildren, realized that retirement wasn’t for him. He bought Y.L.I. Threads, a company with a 45-year history in the quilting, embroidery, and sewing world, is once again doing what it loves—educating the quilting and sewing communities and supplying the best products. Eleven new lines of the highest-quality quilting and sewing threads have been introduced in the past two years, with more in the works.

This Joke Will Leave You in Stitches

Two elderly gentlemen, Harold and Frank, were chatting on the porch. Harold bragged, "I finally got a new hearing aid. Four thousand dollars. Top of the line. Absolute perfection."
"Wow," Frank said. "What kind is it?"
Harold smiled. "Twelve thirty."
The next morning, the two men met again on the porch.
"Windy, isn't it?" Harold said.
"No, Harold, it's Thursday," Frank replied.
Harold nodded. "So am I. Let's go get a beer."

If you have a question about threads, needles, tension, pickleball, etc., feel free to submit it here. Many quilters and sewists share the same curiosities, so we’ll keep the conversation going in our weekly newsletter.
