From hosting a pancake breakfast to holding U-pick weekends, farm
tours, demonstrations, hunting and fishing vacations, farm workshops,
hayrides, or a farm store - this school will help you plan for a farm
enterprise that lets non-farmers enjoy a farm experience. We will
discuss: the basics of writing a farm plan, entrepreneurial thinking,
regulatory and liability issues, marketing strategies, how to hold
successful on-farm activities, how to create learning experiences, how
to feature wholesome local food, and much more. Agri-tourism
presenters: Phil Metzger, Cooper's Ark Farm, Chris and Jackie Kelder,
Kelder's Farm and U-Pick, Jay and Abby Wilson, Maple Shade Farm, Betty
Pillsbury, Green Spiral Herbs, Pete TenEyck, Indian Ladder Farms, and
Bryan and Betsy Babcock, Handsome Brook Farm. Featured presenters:
