A few things to consider.

1)- Volusion county is now in a drought and there is a burn ban in place. So, in keeping with the discussions and rules of our turbine policies, there will now be a SUSPENSION OF TURBINE FLYING UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE !.The field is extremely dry to the point where our grass is like straw (highly Flammable). This notice serves as to mitigate any potential fire threats, also a word to gas and electric flyers - Please try to keep the flying in tight to the open areas and avoid over the tree flying where possible! Let's not all get oogy-woogy. We are trying to enhance safety and not have a fire during this drought period. Being careful is the key. As soon as the drought ban lifts, normal flying can resume ! Thank you for your cooperation!
2) Club Meeting - Our next club meeting is Saturday, May 3rd, starting at 10:00AM ,at the Airport Administration Building, 1000 Flightline Blvd. Deland 32724 . Please make it a point to attend !
3) We are ready once again to pull the trigger to purchase a storage container. I need a volunteer with a pick-up truck to help me obtain a few 6x6x8 ft. pieces of lumber from either Home Depot or Lowes that the storage container will sit on. If you can help me with this please call me at 845-596-0924 so we can arrange this process.

                                                                                           Thank You,
                                                                       Mike Setteducati-President DRCC

1-   It is time for volunteers --------- This Tuesday, May13th, starting at 9:00 AM, we need volunteers to cut up the old trailer stairwell and prep the area where the new storage containers are going to be placed. At least 5 people would be great ! Please bring a sawzall type saw or circular saw to help with this task plus rakes and shovels and weed whackers to clean out the area. If I can get more volunteers that would even be better because there are other projects at the field that can be started. Hope to see you then !

2-This coming Wednesday, May 14th, at the flying field, starting at 6:00 PM is our season opener for our BBQ. It was suggested at our recent club meeting that we make it start a little later so the working people have a chance to attend, so we are going to try a  6:00PM start time. Remember to bring those delicious tasty side dishes we all love and please respond to this email so I can get a proper head count for the food purchase. The BBQ still remains at $5.00 per person, and guests ( non club members) are always welcome! Come out support the club and enjoy some good food and good flying!

3-A reminder about arming electric planes and helicopters- Remember ALL ELECTRIC PLANES AND HELICOPTERS are to armed (Batteries installed) at the start  tables and  NOT IN THE SETUP AREA ! We are drifting away from this rule and we do not want another disaster to occur ! Also make sure your FAA AND AMA numbers are on your planes, helicopters or drone. I have return address postage size labels that have been available for members.

                                                    Thank You for Your Cooperation,
