Roadkill,
I wonder if Polaris would have the right to void warranty if we used
any other oil than their own Victory oil? I think there is a law
against this.
I have been running Amzoil full synthetic for going on 14 yrs. now in
all of my vehicles except my girlfriends car. It had too many miles on
it to make it worth changing over. My first Wing had 140,000 miles on
it...all with Amzoil. Ran like day one when I got rid of it and bought
the Wing I have now. Present Wing has 118,000 miles on it.....Amzoil
since 25,000 miles.
I'm a true fan of Amzoil.....in fact, I'm a dealer but don't really
do anything with the dealership.....just did it for the discounted
rates on their oil.
I'll be interested in seeing what you think of this oil.
Ride alert,
Arnie

+The Magnuson-Ferguson Act prohibits the manufacturer from requiring a
specific oil, otherwise they must provide you with it. The AMSOIL is
within specified classification, however, so is acceptable for use.

Polaris, therefore, has no right to void the warranty.

Sounds like you've had lots of experience with AMSOIL. I'm also
interested in the results. My only other experience with full
synthetic resulted in double disasters. (Two Suzukis switched to
Mobil1 suffering concurrent bearing failure.)

Ride on.

Roadkill,
One of the big differences between Amzoil and Mobil 1 pure synthetic
is the shear resistance. Mobil one has a shear pressure resistance of
1,000 lbs. per sq. inch. Amzoil's is 3,000. I'm sure you already
understand shear resistance but in case anyone else reads this that may
not know......pretend you have two perfectly machined pieces of steel
that are 1" x 1". If you were to put a dab of Amzoil onto the one
block and sandwich the oil between the two pieces, it would take 3,000
pounds of pressure on a hydraulic press before you could squeeze all of
the oil out from between the block. In bearing areas, this shear
resistance is very important.
I have a feeling that Amzoil is going to come back suggesting their
para-synthetic to you for use in the bike. For one thing, even though
I use pure Amzoil in my Gold Wing, pure synthetic CAN, not DOES cause a
wet-clutch to slip under high torque. Sometimes, only sometimes, being
that I AM using the pure synthetic, my clutch will slip slightly if I'm
really pouncing on the Wing hard. Most Gold Wing users don't ever play
with all the power the Wing has to offer so they'll never know the
difference. By the way, for those of you that are reading this and
laughing at the size and weight of a 6 cylinder Gold Wing having much
power or torque.....keep this in mind: 3 times I have whipped the
Victory Sport Cruisers with the Gold Wing. We like to play with power
within our local Victory friendships and everybody was amazed.....6
cylinder Wing power is nothing to shake a stick at if the right person
is riding it that's not afraid to USE that power.
