I got to test ride a 2001 V92C yesterday it had about 700 miles on it serial
# in the 300's, it was fitted with a windscreen.

I have compared it with my 99 model # 534.

The suspension has been greatly improved the seat is about an inch higher,
there is more travel on the rear wheel, and it feels softer on the road (
good news over here as the roads are full of holes), the handling is just as
good if not a bit better, and the bike feels a bit lighter on the road.

The power is about the same as my V99C, but I have the taper tip pipes
fitted, the power delivery is smooth but a bit more noise comes from the air
intake.

They have re-balanced the crankshaft to remove almost all on the engine
vibration, no blurred images in the mirrors now.

There is no strange transmission noise when you roll off the power then apply
it again, great improvement.

When listening to the engine on tick-over there is a different sound coming
from the primary side.

The gear change is now way quieter, without any of those clanking sounds, but
it seems to be harder to stiff through the gears, given the choice I would
put up with the noise of the older gearbox, it possible that with time that
the selection mechanism will wear in, or possibly they are still working on
this.

The clutch seems to be a bit harder to pull in, but delivers the power nice
and evenly, (has any one seen a custom part that was used on some of the
early Harley clutches to make the lever lighter for use in heavy traffic).

The brake and oil cooler hoses have been changed for pipes and braided
cables, the wiring tidied up and the general finish greatly improved, the
only thing that I noticed was the rubber gasket on the rear light has pushed
out, as on my 99 bike.

A great deal of work has been done to improve the 2001models, but for the
time being I will keep #534 and see if there are any other changes made on
the later 2001 models.

Just for your information the V92SC sells for £11,695 (16,957), V92C
£11,995 ($17,392).

Safe riding to you all UK_ John
