I heard another person modify the quote as follows: "The most fervent
devotees of tolerance are invariably intolerant of anyone who speaks
with certainty about ANYTHING." I'm amazed at how intolerant the people
are who rage about the intolerance of others - don't they see the
blatant contradiction?
To make matters worse in this post-modern society, it is
philosophically dishonest to be intolerant of someone for declaring
what they believe to be true since all truth is now considered relative
anyway. "Truth is fallen in the streets" as the scriptures say, and "If
the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?"
The cry for tolerance is really a move toward fascism, typically "left
wing" these days, but not necessarily in every case. "Meet the new
boss; same as the old boss."
I'll save any recommendations for later, should this thread live on at
all. BTW, nothing personal Benno, it was just an opportunity for
further discussion.

Before you buy.
I think tolerance is very selfish. I guess I prefer acceptance; being
accepted for who I am is much better than merely being tolerated.
Renee, I like how you prefer acceptance. I agree.
