I'm trying to configure Procomm to open a Telnet session to a router
which is connected to my laptop via a Xircom PCMCIA Ethernet card. I've
tried everything I can think of, but I can't get it to fly.

Can anyone help?

ANY help would be greatly appreciated,
Jim

Do you get anything at all when you try to make a connection? Does it
fail immediately or timeout? Is an error message displayed anywhere,
particularly on Procomm's status line. One thing you might want to try
is to go into Procomm's Setup utility, select the Internet tab, click
on the Telnet button, and check the disable all telnet negotiation
checkbox. It's possible that Procomm and the router are having
negotiation problems when the connection is first attempted.

John,
Thanks for the reply, however in the mean time I got it to work. Procomm
was talking to my TCP/IP stack OK, but the stack wasn't talking to my
Ethernet NIC card. I found out that I had to go into "Properties" on the
WIN95 Networking icon and set up some parameters to enable the NIC card
to connect (actually called "bind") with the TCP/IP stack. All's OK now,
but not without crashing my laptop a few times along the way.

Thanks again,
Jim
