Is it possible to understand the Godhead?
PART SIX
"The Son" Refers to the Flesh
What part of Jesus was the Son? The angel told Mary this in Luke
I:35 "And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall
come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee:
therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be
called the Son of God." Paul wrote in Galatians 4:4 "But when the
fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman,
made under the law."
The Son is the flesh or humanity. The Father is the great eternal
Spirit who indwelt the Son, and thus the great mystery is solved.
Joseph was not the father of Jesus. He was the reputed father only. It
was the eternal Spirit who performed the miracle act of paternity upon
the virgin womb. The Holy Ghost was a Father to Jesus, and that Holy
Ghost (the eternal God who fathered Him) indwelt Him. That is why He
could say, "He that hath seen me hath seen the Father." There were not
two persons but two natures, human and divine, Son and Father, all in
Jesus Christ.
The mystery of godliness is God making Himself man. The Bible speaks of
another mystery that is entirely opposite in nature, the mystery of
iniquity. The mystery of iniquity is man making himself God. Mark well
the following words: If this generation does not accept the truth of
the mystery of godliness, it will be compelled to accept the mystery of
iniquity. Let us rejoice in the great truth that God came in the flesh
as Jesus Christ.
The Full-Orbed Deity of JesusChrist
Plain Statements from Scripture.
Jesus is the Father.
Isaiah 9:6 "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and
the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called
Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The
Prince of Peace.
John 14:9 "Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and
yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the
Father; and how sayest thou [then], Shew us the Father?"
Verses to Compare
I. Who raised Jesus from the dead?
Jesus did.
John 2:19-22, "Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple,
and in three days I will raise it up. Then said the Jews, Forty and six
years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three
days? But he spake of the temple of his body. When therefore he was
risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this
unto them; and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus
had said."
The Father did.
Romans 6:4 "Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death:
that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the
Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life."
2. Who answers prayer?
Jesus in John 14:14 "If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do
[it]."
The Father in John 16:23 "And in that day ye shall ask me nothing.
Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in
my name, he will give [it] you."
3. Who has the drawing power?
Jesus according to John 12:32 "And I, if I be lifted up from the earth,
will draw all [men] unto me."
The Father according to John 6:44 "No man can come to me, except the
Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last
day." 4. Who is the Alpha and Omega?
Revelation 1:8 says it is Jesus.
Revelation 1:8 "I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending,
saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the
Almighty."
Revelation 21:6-7 says it is the Father.
Revelation 21:6-7 "And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and
Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst
of the fountain of the water of life freely. He that overcometh shall
inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son."
5. Who is the coming One?
John I4:3 says it is Jesus.
John 14:3 "And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again,
and receive you unto myself; that where I am, [there] ye may be also."
1 John 3:1-2 says it is the Father.
1 John 3:1-2, "Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed
upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world
knoweth us not, because it knew him not. Beloved, now are we the son of
God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that,
when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he
is."
No one could possible believe two persons raised Jesus from the dead,
that two persons answer prayer, that two persons draw us to God, that
two persons are the Alpha and Omega, and that two persons are coming.
If we believe in One Eternal God, we Know He does all these things.
Christ’s Truthful Claims
Jesus claimed that He was the resurrection, the answerer of prayer, the
drawing power, the Alpha and Omega, and the coming One. He did not He
claim too much because Jesus is the Father.
I. Christ is a Father to His children
Hebrews 2:13 "And again, I will put my trust in him. And again, Behold
I and the children which God hath given me."
John 1:12-13, "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to
become the sons of God, [even] to them that believe on his name: Which
were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will
of man, but of God."
If He gives us power to become His Sons, He must be our father. The
phrase "Elder Brother" is not found in Scripture as referring to our
Messiah.
2. Christ is the Father of eternity
Isaiah 9:6 "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and
the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called
Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, (margin:
Father of Eternity) The Prince of Peace.
3. Christ is the Father to the church
Isaiah 53:10 "Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put [him]
to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall
see [his] seed, he shall prolong [his] days, and the pleasure of the
LORD shall prosper in his hand."
4. Christ is the Father to overcomers
Revelation 21:7 "He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I
will be his God, and he shall be my son."
5. Christ is the Father of creation
John 1:3 "All things were made by him; and without him was not any
thing made that was made."
6. Christ is the Father to Israel, "his people"
Matthew 1:21 "And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his
name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins."
7. Christ is the Father of lights
James 1:17 "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and
cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness,
neither shadow of turning." John 9:5 "As long as I am in the world, I
am the light of the world." END OF PART SIX
