OK fellow DuneBuggy Crazys, where is everyone? Nobody has any problems
or needs any advice? Well, we didn't get to go to Baja, but that's OK,
we'll go some other time. I drove the Manx early this morning & even
though it was only 40 degrees, when you add in the wind chill factor of
50 MPH, it was definately COLD! Once the Manx warmed up, it sure ran
great in the cold. People looked at me like they thought I was crazy or
something, but I did get a couple of "thumbs up"! I went & looked at a
F/G DuneBuggy that I'm thinking about buying & turning into a "sand
only" buggy. After I looked at the Buggy, I managed to run across a
1963 VW "21 window" bus for sale, but it was out of my price range,
sure would like to have one of those also! Everyone Have Fun & Keep
Warm...ManxManiac

Was the crankshaft end-play too tight? Was it the rear main both
times? Are you still working all of that overtime & making the easy
money? LOL Good Luck & Have Fun...ManxManiac

Nope! Don't know yet! It showed plenty of oil flow/press. the first
time......Squealed for a second before seizing this time.

Oil pump gears spin (some aftermarket pumps do this)? Right oil pump
for the cam? Main bearing hole not lined up with dowel? Oil holes in
mains not lined up with bearing?
Just some food for thought...

I had my first Manx when I was newly married and going to school during
the day (working 2nd shift). The Manx was my second car, being that it
had a top and sidecurtins (no heater/defroster). I drove it to school
all winter (in St. Louis), about a 30+ mile round trip. In the cold
the sidecurtin would contract and not let me zip it up, so it was
pretty useless. No garage, below zero, in snow and rain... Oh to be
young and stupid again (wait a minute - I AM building another one - but
not as transportation this time!). Sounds like the walk to school your
father always described! Maybe I saw him on the way!

Enjoying the forum, keep up the threads!

Waiting for #74

Well I guess Sunday was the last long drive in the Kyote until spring.
minus 2 deg celcius approx 28 deg F. Drove it into town, about 15 miles
one way. Talk about cold. No heat and the top down.I have located
basically all the parts I need to complete the Manx and did some more of
the bodywork to transform it into my finished creation, tail lights rear
markers, shaved the headlight mounts and installed a flush fuel tank
door from a 88 Merc Sable. Started installing the Volvo dash unit and
glovebox. Fixing up my neighbors 72 super basketcase at the same time.
Hey there Manxmaniac I have set another goal to achieve. It is to make
it to the 2005 Baja 1000 with both buggies. I know that is a long way
off but by setting it then I have a chance at making it.
Take care guys
Dan

Holly crap!
I just found that all of the Deja messages are going to my deja email that I don't read!!!!!!!

No wonder nobody has been sending any messages to me.
I don't know how that happened but, I bet
I am not the only one.
SO I will read the 58 messages and try to catch up.
Sorry I have not talked to anyone in awhile.
The ID business has been booming. I should be charging these guys $5 each I could be rich.
I guess I am famous instead. LOL.

It's 40 degrees here too, so very few buggies on the streets!
