Hey Fellow DuneBuggy Crazys, just wanted to see what everyones up
to...The other day, I installed a 34pict3 on the 1600DP in the Manx.
The 30pict carb with the offset adapter, ran OK, but not as well as I
knew it was capable of with a 34pict. My 1600 came alive with the carb
change! This afternoon I was driving the Manx out to Towd-Dude's house
to watch him & his son install a complete new drum to drum frontend
under his Baja & as I was cruisin' down the freeway, I realized that
there wasn't any traffic in front or behind me, except for a fairly new
TransAm that was slowly coming up behind me. WELL...the fastest I had
driven the Manx was 85 MPH, but that was with the 30pict, so I put the
peddle-to-the-medal & when I glanced down at the speedometer, it was on
105 MPH!!! My actual speed was 100 MPH because my speedo is 5 MPH too
fast, WELL...I glance over at the TransAm & the guy is motioning to me
that I'm going 100 MPH & he looked more excited about it than I did!!!
So I back it down to 70 & he runs next to me for the next couple of
miles. I bet I could have squeezed a few more MPH out of her, but 100
in a Manx is a little too crazy even for me! LOL The weather was great
when I headed out to Towd-Dude's, but by the time I headed home it had
cooled off quite a bit & I got a few sprinkles of rain too! It was
fantastic! I've almost finished building my roof-rack & I've got all of
the material I need to modify the rear bumper/engine cage, so as soon
as I get it done I'll post some photos! Have Fun...ManxManiac

Now you all know why we call him "The ManxManiac". What he negelected
to tell you was, he was in a 55mph zone "Heavly" patrolled by Smokey
and the boys. He also own's a blind, one eared dog with three legs
called "Lucky"....

LOL. You guys crack me up! 100 mph in a buggy is definatly what I would
call a brush with death! What type of tranny you got in your buggy
Manxmaniac? My old boss bug buggy, would be at red line..about 5700 rpm
at like 75-80. What were your rpm's?
Take care
DunebuggyJay

only one and a half more day till I get my manx body!
Yippie!

Hey DuneBuggyJay, a day & a half & you'll have your new Classic
Signature Manx, COOL...What color is yours?... As far as I know, my
transaxle has a 4.37 R&P with stock gearing in the trans! I don't have
a tach, but with my dwell/tach meter hooked up with long leads so I
could hold it & see it, I've turned it 6000+ RPMs! My rear tires are
27" tall & using the formula to figure RPM, I was probably only turning
the motor 4850 RPMs at 100 MPH, so I probably had a few more MPH! LOL
But I'm satisfied with knowing it did a 100 MPH! I drag raced a short
wheelbase altered years ago & crossing the finishline at about 150 MPH
& popping the chute & applying the rear only brakes with a handle
instead of a foot peddle prepared me for doing crazy things like seeing
how fast my Manx can go! LOL Thank God I have a little bit of sense
left to know I don't need to see just how fast it will go!!! LOL Be
sure to keep us updated about your progress with the new Manx! Tell
Bruce & Winnie "Hi" for me! Have Fun...ManxManiac

Hey there Mike! How was the ride at 100? Smoothe or scarry. I have had
the Kyote up to 75 miles per hour and it is rock steady with lots of
throttle left to go. Everyone asks "How fast will it go?" but I'm not up
to pushing it too much more than that. After all, what speeds up must
slow down and I do not trust the stock brakes to do their job from that
speed. Another reason is I cannot afford the speeding tickets and loss
of my drivers license. You must have got lucky.
Take care
Dan
