Just reading that the great Jack Nitzche has died. He was Phil
Spector's arranger, musical director for many of the great pop songs
including Carole's "Just Once In My Life" and "Hung On You". He also
arranged the strings for several songs Carole recorded herself. Of the
beautiful moments that he has supplied my musical memory bank with, the
string arrangement of "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'" comes to my
mind and fingers often and very recently I discovered a track by
Sherrell Townsend of an old George Jones tune entitiled: "He/She Thinks
I Still Care" arranged by Jack. What a killer this one is. And let's
don't forget the beautiful, overlooked, Leslie Gore track written by
Goffin and Titleman: "What Am I Gonna Do With You". His genius has
touched many!
