Wow! Just heard the new Tarsha Vega "Rooftops" track co-written by her,
Carole, and PopRox and featuring CK VERY prominently on vocals. All I
can say is that this track is a motherf--ker! Carole blasts into the
21st century and urban hip-hop. Now, before you criticize her jumping
on a bandwagon, the lyrics pay tribute to that other urban classic
about finding escape on the rooftops of another era. Ideal
combination. Carole sounds like she is having a ball as she sings the
chorus. Tarsha and producers dub her vocals WAY upfront.

The song starts off with a the first line from "It's Too Late" and ala
Janet Jackson's "Got Till It's Gone" features a snippet from "Up on the
Roof" sung by CK and Tarsha. CK also gets to sing a line about Joni
Mitchell in the final chorus.

Here's hoping this clicks --not only for Carole's sake, but, also for
Ms. Vega's. She is the most promising new artist I've heard since Macy
Gray.

I agree. It's top-notch, and Carole sounds terrific! Reminds me of
those tangy Spanish vocals she administered so well at the end of Carly
Simon's "Attitude Dancing," however as you said, Bob, the vocals on
"Rooftops" are dubbed "way up front;" definitely LEAD vocals.

And, I too, like the song. It's fresher than anything I've heard from
young female songstresses (Brittany, Christina and the lot) in ages.
It's not a song written just to display how much someone can copy
Whitney Houston/Mariah's endless-endless-endless-endless warbling, but a
song to be sung so that the song is the star, not the singer, though
both singers shine here!

Ricky -- "Rooftops" is not a single and the album will not be released
until Sept 26. I heard an advance copy.
