At one time, there was a person in alt.online-service.webtv who was a
WebTV user and had a good understanding of the differences between
WebTV and other newsgroup access. Swami, or something like that.
I have seen WebTV users post with Deja. I understand there are
different versions of WebTV hardware, so I'm not guaranteeing you can
with whatever version you have. But you might try it.
Posting from Deja should get you correct quoting (if you have the
quote option enabled) and there will be no indication you are posting
from WebTV unless someone reads the headers and notes the client
software is WebTV.
There is a Deja help group, deja.newusers. Deja is at
http://,www.deja.com
Posting to Usenet with either WebTV or AOL is a handicap, both
technically and socially. (Some people look down on Deja users too.)

I agree.
I don't know exactly what WebTV tell their customers about the Internet.
However, since so many WebTV users e.g. post giant multimedia attachments
as their "signatures", and when politely asked to stop begin to shout
about how their WebTV set rules and how we dinosaurs who can't handle
their hi-tech stuff should upgrade instead of whining, I assume WebTV is
spreading pretty gross misinformation about what the Internet is and how
it may be used.
Follow-ups set.
