Hi
From Redhill, Nottingham, jump onto the A614 at the roundabout with the
Little Chef and the Texaco garage on it and follow for about 30 miles,
going straight over approx. 4 roundabouts in total, the last one being
Ollerton on its' junction with the A6075 and the A616, more noticable
are the two garages on the neck of the roundabout opposite each other,
I think they may be Shell and Jet, but not too sure. One of which is
situated next to a Mcdonalds resturant, which sells a variety of fast
foods if you get peckish and is open until midnight every night (trying
to get them some custom for them, hehe)
From this roundabout head straight on, past the big layby on the left
(I wonder if anything goes on there). It is important to remember that
there is at least two other entrances to Clumber Park along this
stretch of the A614, the first one you arrive at is the Drayton Gate,
Drayton Road and the second one is the Normanton Gate, leading to
Hardwick Village, both of which are closed to traffic from 9pm to
8.30am, April to September and from 7pm to 8.30am, October to March.
Continue along the A614 (not far now and there you will see a grand
hotel (The Clumber Park Hotel) on the right, you can't miss it, it is
lit up all the time, after this landmark you haven't got far to go.
Continue a few more miles and you will see a turn off for Carburton its
a brown sign, with a picture of a caravan on it, because of the caravan
site situated within the grounds, you almost hit the A1, A57 main
roundabout before turning off into Limetree Avenue, Apleyhead Lodge is
the name of this entrance, because of the Lodge situated on the
entrance, which always has a light on, but don't quote me.
Once here, there are usually cars parked on either the left or the
right amongst the trees as you drive along, also there is a main picnic
area situated on the right, but you will have to find that yourself as
it is too difficult to explain and it has been a while since we went
there. Maybe you ahould take a tour during the day as these picnic
areas are so easy to find in daylight :) Also remember that these
little roads to the picnic areas can be bumpy and full of potholes, so
drive carefully! There are also 3 entrances the other side, one off the
A57 itself, Manton Lodge and two off of the B6034, Truman's Lodge and
Carburton Lodge.
Please also note, that the park does have mini festivals and concerts
some evenings, during it's peak period, on the 19th of August it was
closed, due to a seventies concert featuring, Suzi Quatro and Slade, so
I am told. The entrances are blocked from all directions and the gates
are manned so it is impossible to enter the park. It was also once used
for rallying, but hasn't been used for this sport since 1996, although
boy racers hurtle down the road like it still was on the odd
occaision :).
Anyway I am going on like a tourist guide now, hehe, so anyway they are
the directions to the Park, what you find within there, is up to you. I
had a good old search of the Park once and found a Car Park, near the
Fishing Lake and there was one guy in there, was he a dogger? Maybe,
maybe not...
Have fun, hope my directions aren't too over the top :)

Before you buy.
Well the speed some of these people operate in the drive-thru you'd be
lucky to get to clumber by dawn, hehe. Seriously, its actually quite a
good place to pick up a couple of meals en route and eat when you get
to the park (if you are coming from nottm that is!)

Agree about the potholes. Drive very carefully, especially if your car
has lowered suspension in any way. I nearly grounded a car driving into
one of these areas once!

You know...I found that car park once too and there was a bloke sitting
in there. Maybe he is dead and just hasn't been found yet :)

Well someone obviously has a map i think :) Whats the name of the
fourth tree down on the left hand side Adel? hehehe. No, I think if
anyone needs further directions after yours then they have a serious
problem with geography!
