Hi-
Does anyone have any ideas about why _one_ particular workstation
client would be 4 times slower than any of the others? It has plenty
of free space, 64 M of ram, and was not always this slow. The machine
was having troubles - getting slower and then the monitor died.
Immediately after switching to a new monitor response time was much
better. After about a week though it has gone back to it's old
slowness. It can take 40 seconds to change from one account to
another. I would appreciate any suggestions because I am running out
of ideas. I have switched monitors again with no luck. We are running
SQL 7 (no patches) and SLX 3.1.6
Thanks!

The monitor dying should have no effect on performance, but they may be
symptoms of the same problem.
The first question to ask is are any other probrams working slower?
Is it just server access that is slow, or do local programs run slowly?

Does the user have any weird backgrounds on their desktop?
This could slow performance (anything on the desktop eats system
resources and a lot of colors and images could ruin a monitor).

Have you tried switching the workstation with another?
There could be a power source problem that has ruined the processor or
the motherboard on the machine and burned out the monitor.

Or, it could simply be a bad video card in the machine.

It is probably hardware related, but I would make sure it is not a
problem with the power outlet you are plugged into before you start
replacing any equipment.

We have had video card problems here causing problems with SLX so it
could defintely be that.
