Wow what type of server do you run on?
and how is performance? Are you on version 4.0 of SLX?

I have the benefit of a boss that knows the value of hardware...
We are currently running on a quad xeon 450 with 4gb of memory and 5
9gb hard drives configured for raid 5.

I am having hard drive issues because of the database, our backups, and
all of our attachments so I am upgrading to more hard drive space in a
few weeks (I just bought 36gb drives).

I have researched new servers (this one is a year old) and have found
that until I can get a server with better than 1gb processors
everything is a waste of money.

I am running SalesLogix 3.1.6

Performance is not bad until I am working with a large set of records
from a table with more than 2 million records (my history, mailing
history, and web activity tables are getting rather large).
We have highly customized SalesLogix but have found that limitations in
the development environment have forced us to also make interfaces
using asp pages.

My next big step is going to be archiving some of the seldom used data
to try to reduce the number of records in a few of the tables.

What I can tell you is this...do not have any fear of SalesLogix having
a lot of performance issues (with an MSSQL or Oracle backend) until you
are well over 5gb of data, and once you are there, hardware can make up
for a lot of software shortcomings.
