Hello,

Recently Radio Sweden International mentioned the possible merger of
Swedish arms manufacturer, Bofors with another munitions manufacturer.
This subject is always a sensitive point with many of my American
friends when I boast of my American/Swedish heritage and I never know
how to answer them.

Recent revelations of Swedish banking's past involvement in laundering
Nazi gold and now the alleged, joint maneuvering with NATO
submarines offer them a good bit of ammunition to question me. How, they
remark, can a country with the likes of Bofors---making cannons---and
Saab---fabricating jet fighter aircraft, continue to justify neutrality
in the world today.

American novelist James Mischner's character once quipped: "...war is
good business---invest your sons."
