Before you buy.
Thank you very much for this very special post of yours. And I'm really
sorry about your back. Believe me I can perfectly understand the matter
that broken dreams are made of. Glad you could overcome that and keep
on fighting for what you believe in.
I do certainly appreciate your idealist view of the world and all this
mess going on in it. And believe me I could perfectly imagine your
shining and dreaming eyes when writing it.
But OK, enough for this mellow stuff. Glad that you are here with us in
the Grey Archive! And keep always writing!
I myself are a very recent fan of the Web (since March 99, so you are
still my elder). I kept all this months (until November) just browsing
the web, mostly looking for stuff on Science Fiction and Horror (that's
the areas where I usually write when I want to get published); then I
came a cross Joniar's Supergirl photomanipulations (I don't know why,
but she has always been my favorite)and discovered that he had also
some erotic fanfiction.
As I said in my Fanfic History thread, I never thought that I were the
only one writing fanfiction, but then I was appaled by the huge amounts
of fanfics on the web. So I just kept browsing until I found the Grey
Archive and Villain's Lair. The Grey Archive immediately become my
favorite site: it's graphics, it's simple and sober lookout, it's magic
content.... Man!
So I kept coming back for more and believe me I have dowloaded and
printed all the stories in the Archive (yeah Tyval, even yours!)
Then the forum came up, and for a whyle I kept just surveying the
posts, trying to see how newsgroups worked. The first time a post
caught my attention was when someone was asking why so many guys got
turned on by Batgirl (by the way guys, I think it is because she is one
of the few heroines who has her body almost completelly hidden from
view).
Then one day (23.11.99)I posted my first message. From that day on you
know my story.
I am just sorry that I can't show you guys my stories: they tend to be
pretty long and being written in Portuguese would turn my life into a
nightmare just to try to translate them (portuguese is a very
adjectivated language and I have a vert adjectivated style).
So I decided to write a few stories in english just for the Archive. As
you know I am currently working on Reality Asylum and two (yeah two!)
short stories about JLH.
I think you will like Reality Asylum because it deals a lot with
mithology, although I tend to prefer demons to gods; moreover, my
favorite mithologies are from sub-saharan Africa, ancient middle-east
and pop culture (if you can consider this one a mythologie; Suzanne
Barbieri wrote a book defending that Clive Barker was a true MITHMAKER
FOR THE MILLENIUM (1992)).
Anyhow, I will extend myself a little more about me in the next posts
(although I will only be able to post again next wednesday).
Once again, thank you all.
And thank you very much Tyval. I hope you'll keep around (alive,
kicking and writing).

PS. So, a comic store manager, eeh? Maybe I'll accept your invitation.
I also live in a small town with the smallest dreams you can imagine.
Moreover, I live in a country where you can never go very far writing
(even less if you are a comic writer) and we don't even have a film
industry.
