Before you buy.
I have been to several Martin Logan presentations over the
years. These demonstrations and exhibits have been at the
CES (Consumer Electronics Show), the Stereophile Hi-Fi shows,
and, at our local ML dealer.
Mr. Sanders is a very polite and soft spoken individual who
will narrate the presentation, and in this case, the public
introduction of the Prodigy loudspeaker.
In the case of the Prodigy demonstration, as presented in
Sacramento, they held two demonstrations, each about forty five
minutes long. He began by introducing store personnel and his
hosts, any other dignitaries, and, the equipment used in the
demonstration. Next, Mr. Sanders gave a brief overview of the
electrostatic principle--how it is used to operate a speaker,
and, how ESLs are superior to conventional speakers. Third,
he discusses the salient design points of the Prodigy.
The speakers were demonstrated by playing portions of three
musical selections, and, the Rutter Requiem in its entirety.
>i own a pair of ML sl3 and have been
> quite happy with them, but i cant wait to grill him on a few points.
> ill let you all know how the turn out is.
You may or may not be able to corner Mr. Sanders for a short
discussion. Much will depend upon how available he plans to make
himself, and, the demands made upon him for the evening. There
are several company personnel traveling with him and they made
themselve readily available and seemed to be willing to talk at
length with guests. I bent the ear of the foreign sales manager
who was very knowledgeable and gave very detailed answers to my
questions.
In the case of the Sacramento presentation, he was occupied
before the demonstration in setting up the speakers. The two
demos ran back to back so he was not available in between.
I did not stay to the end so cannot say if he was mingling with
the guests, later. The store served drinks and finger food.
All in all, the demo is worth the price of admission, so plan
on going, listening, and pigging out. It beats what's on TV!
I hope this is of help.
