Hello,

Here's a beautiful A-2 by J.A. Dubow that's on eBay. The leather's in
magnificent condition, adn the price isn't too bad either.

That is a beautiful looking jacket. At a minimum bid 610 USD, which is
about 405 GBP, which is 50 pounds more than an ELC "special edition", 80
pounds more than the RMNZ dubow and that's not including shipping to the UK
and the high probability that I would be out bid by a collector with money
to burn, and even if I won I would be too afraid to take it out of the house.
The price is okay "so far", but there are still six days to go. Luckily
I've already bought a nice reproduction jacket otherwise I might be tempted
into a foolish bidding war that I couldn't afford, . Oh yeah, one more thing,
it's too small.

Interesting way that spec label has worn out. Usually they just sort of fade
away into unreadable blobs of yellow on the black. Anyone seen this sort
of a wear pattern before?

outbid a fellow forum member as this would be dishonorable. Okay so I
did outbid Marc once on an original A-2 purchase order. But it was just
once. Good luck on the jacket. Tell your daughter not to bid until the
last 30 seconds. It serves no purpose to be sitting on top of the board
and get knocked out by some last second bid.

Hi Ken
Normally it is me on her account, but she IS keen on this one, it seems
a lot softer than most, and certaintly softer than anything I could
make her, vintage clothing mania runs in the family. If the bidding
does go up I MIGHT bid, but I have a lot of 40"'s at present.

I promise(cross my heart) I will not outbid you. I would not

That is very honourable, but there is always another one round the
corner, and there are plenty knocking around the house, she never shows
any shyness in borrowing my #1 or #2 Levi Jackets, they'd probably be
worth as much as the A" in anyones money!

Okay so I

Not on the server and antiquated telephone system around the village, I
was trying to bid by semaphore (is that spelt right, never did figure
out a quick way to use this spellcheck)

And it has happened a lot recently, especially at 2:00am Scottish Time!!

I find it odd that it's a 1940's size 40, yet a modern day 43 wearer
fits into it?

Reads like "sales pitch"(Scottish Trans Bullsh*t) to me, the bigger
the size the bigger the price, right? however we discovered a US Army
overcoat in a crate earlier today, no idea of model, officers but maybe
1950's, labelled 36 R, must be at least a 44!!!! Who knows, didn't look
big to me by the general dimensions a fit on the stand..

Well - it was at $250.00 when I posted the first time. I think a new
jacket would lead to a little more confidence in the condition unless
someone really wanted this original.

Thanks again for advice and kind offer to step back, but 1. She has
now been outbid, and 2. She bought a lovely (and I think "real deal" as
you folks in the US put it,) Spanish Civil War jacket at Beltring, I
haven't had time to research it properly, but at GB£28 we are all VERY
happy, and as we have several size 40" A2's in stock I think I'll give
this one a miss myself, lovely as it is.
We also got a unusually stencilled WWII USN jacket(M422a??, cant
read the label) , if I can't (and I doubt it) come up with all the
answer, I'll have to seek help on the forum, I can't remember all the
details,it's missing it's bloodchit and nametag, the jacket is at the
factory, I post details and a plea for help identifying the unit
tomorrow.
