Thenas the install seemed to be nearly complete he told me some technical gibberish that someone had taken over my network something or another and they couid fix it for $99.99. I said no, coiuld the printer be installed without the "fix." No, he says. I said this looks like a scam to me and the screens all disappeared.

In order to report your concerns I will need additional information. Once I receive your response, I will forward it to my colleagues. [ME: you have the scam site address above in a screen shot -- "123hp.co"]

Same scam - just installed a new Pro Officejet 8710 - put in the 123hp.com/setup as directed ON THE PRINTER SCREEN and was directed to the scam site. Same take over your computer, have a hard time installing the driver, then tell you they can fix it for $99. I disconnected then but I'm worried damage has been done to my computer. This is totally unacceptable. I thought it was part of the instant ink. You folks have a big problem.

Out of my own stupidity I allowed remote access to my computer and let a "support person" from this site try to install a printer drive to fix my printer. The driver install supposedly didn't work and then he gave me a completely bogus reason why my printer was having issues. Being a software professional, I know that he was just speaking technical garbage that made absolutely no sense. It was at that point that I became suspicious and ended the remote session. I am really concerned about what this guy may have done to my computer. I've checked all the running processes, startup programs, services, etc., and have not found anything suspicious that seems to be running, but I am wondering what may have been done or collected from my PC. I wish HP would provide information or do an investigation on this site to determine what they are up to.
