Does anyone know how to copy mapsource cds to a harddrive to avoid putting a disk in everytime I use it? The directions say to perform a full install, but that is not an option when installing, and when copying the entire disk to harddrive the program still won't recognize it. Any suggestions?
Sorry I did not see your post about having TOPO. For that the whole CD does not install. If you already have a Mapsource product installed, TOPO will not full install. It will integrate itself into the already installed mapsource. After that it you will need to put in the CD every time you want to use it. It works this way even on a full install. So if you don't want to have to keep putting in the CD you can use the Alcohol 120% solution.
Open the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE hive, then SOFTWARE, then Garmin, then MapSource. Under the Products key, you should find some keys with numbers for names. Look around in there. You should be looking for a value titled Loc, which will be the location of the data file for that product. MetroGuide uses D:\MGWest and D:\MGEast (D: represents your CD drive). Double click that value and change it to the appropriate directory on your hard drive, i.e. C:\garmin\cd1\MGWest in this example.
hi! i have got a RINO GPS 130. Please tell me a mapsource software (Free Version) which i can install. My basic requirement is to track the other GPS in same channel and squelch in my computer moniter.I would be grateful ti you.
I have been using Mapsource for a couple of years and I tried to update the software and when trying to open mapsource I get a NTDBdata needs reloaded error. I have tried to reload the training center software and also the mapsource update and neither worked. How do I correct this problem?
