Games you download on our website will usually come in a .7z, .zip or .rar format. These will need to be extracted before you can access the game files. Different file formats will require different software to extract the games.
On Windows 8 and 10, Windows has introduced a native application which allows you to mount ISOs and other VHD (virtual hard drive) files without the need to download any extra software. To mount a file, you can:
Windows 8 and 10 still do not have built-in support for mounting the above file formats. However, you can still mount these files to a virtual drive using a free, light and open-source software called WinCDEmu.
To play DOS games on Windows, you will need to use a free DOS emulator known called DOSBox. You can download DOSBox using this link: =1. To launch DOS games using DOSBox, you will have to mount the game within DOSBox. This process is simplified with most games you download through our website. There will be one file (we will usually specify which file it is) which you must drag on top of the DOSBox icon (e.g. the DOSBox desktop shortcut). This will launch the game on DOSBox.
Many older games were not released on Windows, but on platforms such as consoles (GameCube, Gameboys, PlayStation, SEGA, Xbox etc.) or other operating systems (Commodore 64, MSX, DOS, Windows 3.x etc.). To play these games on a Windows computer, you will need to use an emulator. The emulator you use will depend on the platform the game was released on. When the world entered the entertainment digital age in 2004, multiple digital stores came into the gaming market with Steam being the first in the digital marketplace. Steam made it possible for developers to place their games onto a digital platform for less money than producing CDs. The digital platform has helped the video game industry grow with multiple new indie game developers and publishers. 17 years later some developers still produce CDs for their games to sell for retail. The thing is 83% of PC games are sold digitally.
CONS: CDs can break, or scratch, CDs can become lost or thrown away, and in today's gaming era gamers need to download updates from the developers to get the complete game even after buying a brand spanking new game.
The past few days I dove into a box of old PC games that were in the garage. I have tried multiple times to install them on Windows in the past years but I always failed to install them because they were not compatible with the current version of Windows.
Looking at my collection of PC games, it looks like I lost my copy of Backyard Baseball or it was too old and was thrown away throughout the years. It made me frustrated because those games are hard to find online to buy.
I inserted my Close Combat: A Bridge Too Far CD into my physical CD drive and figured out how to get one of my favorite games working on Windows 10. I could not install it normally but through trial and error and a lot of research, I found an easy way to install CD games to a Windows 10 PC.
C. Then unzip the game again and install the game. Then continue the steps again until step 7. These steps have always worked for me without fail, and I was always able to install and play my games.
If you do get it to work you can run your game, install, and play it without any more compatibility problems. *Note* when you install the game do not take anything out of the installed game files or make copies of shortcuts. Only use the ISO images to mount and start the game.

The buttons below will download the DVD installer for X-Plane 8. Running this will allow you to install X-Plane 8 from your discs. If you are installing X-Plane 8 on a Linux machine, do not use the installer found on your DVDs. Instead, use the updated Linux Installer.
On Windows, simply run TF2CDownloaderWindows.exe. This may require bypassing a warning that it's an untrusted app. It will open a command prompt where you can confirm the location of your sourcemods folder and choose to install the game.
Finally, restart Steam completely. In the Steam client, click the "Steam" button at the top-left, then "Exit" from the dropdown. Launch Steam again, and TF2 Classic should now appear in your Steam library.

If you have more than one graphics card in your computer then test running the game on each card.
For computers with NVIDIA and Intel: The game will not open on an Intel Integrated graphics card, so use the NVIDIA graphics card. First, right click the game's shortcut. Then in the menu click Run with graphics processor and select High-performance NIVIDIA processor. Also, you can open the NVIDIA settings from this menu and choose programs to use with the graphics card.
While online the game says to update.
Check these for BfME 2
Virtual Disk Drive
Windows 10 can mount disks to a virtual drive. If you have Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 then you will need a virtual drive program like WinCDEmu or Alcohol 52% to mount downloaded disks.
We do not recommend Daemon Tools Lite. _tools/14073/ If you use Daemon Tools Lite do not update this specific version if the old version runs on your computer.
Mini-images
Mini-images are used for BfME 2 v1.06 and RotWK 2.01. If you wish to play these version you will need to mount a mini-image to a virtual disk drive. Firstly, you will need a program to mount a virutal disk (WindCDEmu or Alcohol 52%). After installing please restart your computer. Next you will need one of these mini-images.
Compatibility
If you have mods that install into the game's installation folder please uninstall them and remove leftover files before reinstalling the game.
Not applicable to new installations: the Maps folder in My Battle for Middle-earth Files can become crowded if you've downloaded a lot of maps. This might cause a Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library error.

"To know what question we may reasonably propose is in itself a strong evidence of sagacity or intelligence. For if a question be in itself incongruous and begs for uncalled-for answers, it holds, sometimes, besides embarrassing the proposer, the disadvantage to seduce the unguarded listener into giving absurd answers, and we are presented with the ridiculous spectacle of one (as the ancients said) milking the he-goat, and the other holding a sieve beneath."
