Pura Vida!

It has been a while since we communicated, and I just wanted to update you on the progress of the Luz del Corazon project in Costa Rica. This last year has been filled with success, and we are ready and open for lots more success stories. We have re-roofed the house, made a screened in room on the patio, replaced many of the posts in the house, built a new composting toilet and shower structures. We have also purchased a diesel 4x4 vehicle and started building a garage/tool shed for it.

In the land projects we also have lots of good news. We have planted lots more fruit trees this last year, including: guanabana ( sour sop), mamenchino ( rambutan), avocados, passion fruit and mansana de agua. We also have some plantains about to produce, hundreds of producing citrus trees, coffee & cacao, bananas, papayas and yucca ( manioc or cassava), and we just harvested about 250 pounds of black beans. We also have ducks, chickens, goats and a few cows on the land now. We are just planting about a hectare of tomatoes for market, and half a hectare of plantains for market. We have also started the process of registering our rainforest preservation and replanting projects with the Governmental agencies that will help to fund these programs.

We have a full time resident family of four and our 23 year old nephew there as well. Now, in late June we are staging for our next trip to the farm. We are collecting Izzsu Amigo car parts and other things necessary for the project and difficult to obtain in Costa Rica. We are open to visitors, interns and member owners – so get your passport up to date and come on down. Remember US Citizens get a 90 day visa for free, just by showing up, and round trip plane tickets are about 600 from Los Angeles right now.

We are arranging for the four Yome homes to be shipped to Costa Rica, and once they arrive we will be setting them up on platforms. This will make more comfortable sleeping for the residents and guests, allowing us to host even more people. This trip we also hope to buy some horses and oxen to help with the farm work.

We have a new phone number, one that we can check from Costa Rica as well, and it is a USA number. It is 831-531-8349, and of course, this is the email for us. Please check your calendar and plan on a visit. Let us know when you plan to come, so we can be prepared for your arrival.
