Hey guys,

I'm Marius Kraemer, Berlin-based Android developer myself and I built the Wingman app that helps you find your closest Wingman to hit the bars with in real-time. A Wingman is basically a buddy who you can talk to the ladies with in the bar. It's always easier together and not as scary. ;)

I built the Wingman app, because just so many times I wanted to go out, but none of my friends were available. They were either with their girlfriends or too tired again. Then I realised, every single night I'm sharing this problem with thousands of other guys in my city and I thought why is there not an app that help me find a Wingman whenever I need one. There wasn't soI built it.

With the Wingman app, I want to crack the connecting like-minded people space. I've tried it before with my previous startup Matewire, that was the same as Aka aki and that I also received funding for. Quite quickly I realised though, that it is impossible to market, since it does not address anybody. Nobody would think:"Awesome this is totally my app" and would be passionate about it. So, I learnt you can't crack the space by doing it Top-Down, you have to do it bottom up and that's exactly what I do with Wingman. You have to focus on one niche really tightly and then you can take over other interests later.

The app's been out for two weeks and  600 regular guys have signed up for becoming a Wingman and have sent around 500 messages so far. Now I'm looking for a fellow Android dev to join me on my journey and I'd offer 20%-30% equity depending on experience. Here a link to the app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.need_a_wingman.android

If that sounds like something to you, or if you know anyone who would want to get involved in the Wingman app, please let me know! shoot me a mail via malibluk at gmail dot com.

Thanks,
Marius

Nice app,

bit i think it wont work this way too ;(
there seems definetly no market for location based friend finders around... i saw so many tries and all broke.
Maybe its not in the human nature to meet unknown people.

But wait there is one niche that works great (my friends told me ;) its the find a gay fuckbuddy apps that are around

Maybe there is a market for apps that warn you (the girls) of stupid
tricks like that... (-:

Grindr worked, because it is for one audience and for one purpose specifically and an app needs to aim for that, otherwise it will fail. That's what I learnt on my startup journey. For that reason, Wingman is for all the 900 million single guys that want to go out and nothing else. If you can address to one audience, your marketing also becomes very clear. For instance, I'll push it out through dating-expert forums, where several of them have more than 100,000 members.Later you can extend that into other areas, but you need to start with one thing.

Hi Marius, das ist eine geniale Idee. Du darfst du auf keinen Fall aufgeben.
