I'm new here and I was wondering if DxWnd could help me to run Super EF2000 on Windows 10, which is a game I've been wanting to play for a long time.
To even install the game I needed the InstallShield 3 method described here: =90351
Then to run the game you need to run Setup32.exe again and the game actually works only it runs too fast.
I tried running it in DxWnd but then it wouldn't even launch.

I know of the EF2000 Reloaded project but that uses Dosbox and I remember from playing it years back SEF2000 (Super EF2000) had a smoother framerate as well as a lot of bugfixes.
I also hope I can fancy the graphics a little with dgVoodoo or something (doesn't seemed to work so far).

Well you got much ahead with the game then I did. Can you post a screenshot of your game dorectory and the CD directory. If possible, you could PM the CD as well, since it might be difficult to emulate your case (as I am already facing a MIDI issue which you aren't, implying a game difference)

At least when using the original installer with otvdm here it asks for the default music playback to be used. Midi works fine on my system. CD audio does not play anything because surprisingly this Super EF2000 disc appears to lack any music tracks. The DOS EF2000 CD has music tracks though so one can rip the music from there and use ogg-winmm or the cdaudio emulation in Dxwnd.

EDIT:
I see a working .dxw configuration that can scale the window size was posted so this is redundant. I was just mentioning here that GameStretcher can also scale the window size for super ef2000 but that program has no timing controls.

I reduced the fps to 20 because apparently that's close to what is there on my Pentium MMX 166. Secondly I changed some settings so that you can use Alt+Tab to access the (undifferentiated) fullscreen and windowed modes.

The two modes can be differentiated if you disable Run in Window and use default window mode. But the fullscreen mode can be placed at a corner. You'll have to disable the Max Resolution option in Video tab because that interfers with "real-fullscreen-ing" process.

Edit: In windowed mode, you might as well enable the Force Windowing setting. What it will do is, if you Alt+Tab during the video sequence and again in-game, prevent the window size from "slightly changing". Without it, Alt+Tab in video and then again in game will change the screen albeit "slightly". This looks like a bug @ghotik

Hi.
The PM sent by Fixzder needs authorization, but I thing that the oldgames.ru file is just equivalent, I proceeded with that one.
That image is in .cue/.bin format and has 6 audio tracks. During the install (helped by otvdm as usual) I picked the custom install and I chose to install everything (including did.dat) and use CD music. This way the configuration is slightly different, the did.dat file gets installed in the same folder as the executable (inside "PROGRAM"). Anyway I suppose you can place did.dat anywhere, the important thing is that the argument line points to the folder where it is located. For instance when in the same folder as the executable, the "DID=." does the trick. This is my command line:

I started from last export posted by Been Nath, but the choice of the audio from CD required some changes. Apart from ripping the tracks and copying them in the Music folder and setting the "Use audio files" flag I got a message about a Mixer error 2. This is fixed by setting "Emulate CD mixer".
The final result is pretty good, as far as such a poor resolution can allow (I'll try filters later) and it doesn't have any scaling problem, so I'd say it's a mission complete.

I think it is a protection set by Google in his shared folders. I don't know with what option, but you can set a shared file so that whoever receives the link also needs an authorization by the publisher before being able to download. The trouble is that the authorization must be requested by your Google registered account and that would reveal more that I wish right now, so having a good alternative (the file on internet.archive) I just took the easy path. But don't worry, I was just lazy, if I really needed that file there was a way to proceed.

It doesn't work always. Lets suppose Microsoft Monster Truck Madness and Mech2 Titanium. Both games utilise a very low resolution screen and get issues when DxWnd is hooked in real fullscreen. When run natively (with a ton of shims and the MechVM), Mech2 Titanium renders the 320x240 screen perfectly.

1) 3dfx version was installed in Xp. Cd drive letter is K, game dir is e:\dosbox\ef 2000
2) Dosbox was started with "mount c e:\dosbox" and "mount d k:\ -t cdrom".
3) The game of course can't start within DOSBox, "can't find the cd-rom".
Question is - where the game store the cd patch (K:)? Can't find the config to edit it.
Tnx.

i need a copy of ef2000 v.2.0 (a iso image is better).
i have original copy of super ef-2000, but it doesn't support 3dfx.
i try to search in e-bay or amazon, but i don't find it or the price is too expensive.
someone have one copy of this game (version 2.0)?

The solution is simple, use a program such as Virtual PC, VMWare or VirtualBox and Windows XP to install both regular EF2000 and / or EF2000 optimized for Rendition or 3Dfx. They're both for DOS, so you only have to move the installation folders outside the virtual drive afterwards.

I've been able to run both "EF2000" and "Whiplash" using those settings and latest Taewoong's build of DOSBox. AFAIK it's because now Taewoong's build of DOSBox includes the 3dfx Internal Voodoo Emulation by kekko.
