Medway is the boarding House dedicated to the Fourths (Year 7s). As the smallest of our boarding houses, Medway is the ideal size to accommodate this year group. It also has the benefit of an enclosed outdoor space, and is close to the woods, Sports Centre, Tennis and Netball courts and the eco-classroom.

Before they arrive at Benenden, our incoming Fourths put forward their nominations for which Middle House they would like to join. They will be allocated to this House before they join Medway.

Over the course of their first year the Fourths build strong relationships with their Middle School House. They regularly interact with the girls and staff and take part in inter-House events with their Middle School House, helping to build strong relationships.

Echyngham has many traditions that have been handed down through subsequent generations. The most important are the House Carol Service in the Autumn Term and the House Charity Evening. These are events eagerly anticipated by the students and hugely successful. Our aim is to provide a safe, happy and homely environment so that our girls may feel supported and keen to explore new opportunities.

Hemsted is situated in the main building of the School, enjoying close and easy access to the dining room, while being separate from most classrooms. The House was built as a family home in 1860 and it still retains that special atmosphere.

Marshall boarding house is named after John Marshall who was involved in founding Benenden School in 1924. The boarding house was built in 1925 and, though modernised, retains some of the original character as well as the aspirational aims of its namesake.

Our aim is to provide a safe and happy environment in which the girls and their parents feel fully supported throughout their time in Marshall. The House has a warm and family-orientated atmosphere. There is a strong sense of community and loyalty amongst the Marshall girls and they support one another with pride and encouragement.

There is plenty of space for relaxation and socialising, as Norris has two house studies and two kitchens. The bright, cosy and homely decor complements the atmosphere in the boarding House, which brims with friendliness and warmth.

Oaks Boarding House was built in 1993 alongside Limes House, as part of the Founders complex.

Refurbished in 2017, Oaks is a warm and friendly community where we help the girls develop independence for life beyond School.

In Oaks, all the girls enjoy individual rooms alongside shared spaces for relaxation and study, like our beautiful Founders Kitchen.

Beeches is the original Founders House, built for Six Twos in 1983. The House consists of four dorm-areas leading from a light and airy central corridor that runs the length of the house and joins with Elms.

During their time in Beeches we encourage the students to develop essential life-skills and independence with the help and support of the House team. In the Beeches section of Founders there is the Founders Bar, which is a large social space with a wide screen TV and pool table.

Limes House, built in 1993, is paired with neighbouring Oaks House. Here we encourage the Sixth Form to take responsibility for their own lives and learning and prepare them for the transition to the next step in their futures.

Cliffe Cattery is a spacious, clean, caring and loving cattery with only one purpose; the total care and comfort of each cat in our cattery. We are fortunate to have many clients and several veterinary surgeon references, some going back over 20 years.

The cats are housed in separate, spacious, individually heated chalets, each with its own run. Larger chalets are available which can accommodate up to three cats from the same household. There is a safety passage to prevent escape should a cat get out of its own run.

All cats must be vaccinated against Feline Infectious Enteritis and Cat Flu with current annual boosters. Current vaccinations certificates must be shown to the proprietors on the day of arrival. No cat will be admitted if it is or appears to be suffering from any infectious illness. Elderly cats and those suffering from non-infectious medical conditions under veterinary supervision are welcome, any special care will be meticulously carried out (please discuss with us prior to admission). Veterinary attendance is assured should this be necessary during your cats stay.

Bedding is provided, but it does help your cat to feel more at home if you bring its own bed or a familiar rug, jersey or cushion. Please do not wash this immediately prior to boarding, we want to ensure your cat feels as comfortable as possible during their stay with us.

Adults are fed twice daily, elderly cats and kittens according to their needs. We only use the top quality brands of tinned foods, fresh meat and fish together with dried foods. Details are taken on booking together with any special needs.

What a lovely cattery! Absolutely faultless. My cats were looked after so well, they were happy and content when we went to collect them. Cheryl and her team are fantastic, the cleanliness of the cattery and care given to the cats is to the highest standard. I would not leave my cats anywhere else and would highly recommend.
