Depending what notifications you want, you can change settings for certain apps or for your whole phone. Notifications show when you swipe down from the top of your screen. Some notifications can also show on your lock screen and home screen.
Tip: If you don't see "Recently sent," you're using an older Android version. Instead, tap App notifications and tap an app. You can turn notifications, notification dots, and notification categories on or off. If an app has categories, you can tap a category for more options.
You can control many app notifications from a settings menu in the app. For example, an app could have a setting to choose the sound that app's notifications make. To make these changes, open the app and search for the settings menu.
Under Block notifications, select When active on desktop and turn off the toggle to block notifications when active on desktop. You can also allow or block notifications when you're in a meeting by selecting When in meetings and turning on/off the toggle.
I'm developing for the Android, andI want to be able to get an array of the current notifications. For example, say I have two texts and 3 facebook notifications, I want to be able to get a list of what they are, or at least get the type of them. Is there any possible way to do this with the android api?
In our company we have the policy that you need to install company portal on your BYOD smartphone Now we have 1 user with a BYOD android smartphone who cant turn off notifications for outlook. according to his phone the notifications settings for outlook are managed by the company. turning it off in the outlook app or in the settings app both havent worked. the interesting thing is that we dont have a policy for notifications and he is also the only one with BYOD who cant turn off the notifications. Are we missing something or does anyone have an idea how to solve this problem.
Sorry guys perhaps not right topic, but i have question and answers i cant find around forum, maybe someone can help me. 1. how to turn off audio notifications on android phone Garmin connect where when you doing activities without Bluetooth headphones - phone after lap/km start talking in your pocket? ( i tried all around and or I'm blind or i missing somewhere something in settings its annoying and putts me in awkward situation when I'm in public like in when quick in shop, passing people etc etc ) 2. where would be that option where you could enable TOTAL distance running or walking notification on headphones after every km.... like after 1 km saying 7 km total done and continue counts every km, but not like its now configured 1 lap done and after another km says 1 lap done? (would be great if its says total laps or total distance in headphones during activities to not look on your wrist, otherwise sometimes i forget how far i run...)
I am having the same problem as well - looks like a fault in Garmin connect as who would want laps when golfing and there is no option to turn it off apart from silencing your phone. Has anyone raised with support?
I think I turned off all the audio notifications, but still when I'm doing a workout (structured running, for example) with my earbuds connect with the watch it talks each steps from the workout. Is it possible just to vibrate, instead off saying each step in the earbuds?
Instead of constantly sifting through your notifications, select which apps send alerts and which ones don't. You can also customize the way your favorite apps send alerts, such as notifications, sounds, and vibrations. To make things even better, you can snooze notifications or access an app's notification settings from the Lock screen.
To customize your notifications, tap Notification settings at the bottom of the panel; the App notifications screen will open. You can tap the switch next to an app to enable or disable the app's notifications.
From here, you can tap the drop-down menu at the top to select All, Most recent, Most frequent, or Notifications turned off. Tap Most recent.
Note: The drop-down menu will be set to All by default.
Every app will send you notifications about different things. For example, a social media app may send you notifications about a new video someone posted or a message your account received. You can customize which specific notifications you get, so you're not bogged down with ones you don't want.
Tap App icon badges, and then tap the switch at the top to turn the badges on or off. You can also choose Number or Dot for your Badge style. Tap the switch next to Notifications on app icons if you'd like to touch and hold an app icon to view your notifications.
If you are busy or on the go, it can be easy to miss notifications. To make your notifications more noticeable, turn on flash notifications. When this feature is enabled, your phone will flash every time a notification is received. Now you won't miss any important notifications, like an email from your boss or a text from a family member that needs help.
Have you ever accidentally closed a notification you were trying to read? With the Notification history feature, you can view your recent notifications exactly as they appeared. Now you'll never miss any important alerts, like system updates.
Kind of defeats the object of having the doorbell really as I have no idea of any rings or motions. All I can do is turn the notifications off and back on each morning to get it working for a day before it all stops again.
The issue is that all notifications stop for both rings and motion there is no intermittent notifications they simply stop and I can only re-activate them by turning the notifications off/on in the App.
Hi Becky. Issue with notifications better but not perfect. I get about 75% of them in the house. Obviously cannot tell when away. Tried many tricks. Usually find going through to notification settings, they are on so turn off then back on again sorts it. Or restart phone. Alexa works fine. Not a good solution
i actually called the tech support line this morning and spoke to them, i did the whole off and back on again in notifications whilst i was on the phone with the guy and then tested it and it actually worked.
I spoke too soon. Rapid Ring does not stop Notification problem on Huawei P20PRO. Seems to be that I will need to make a morning ritual of turning notifications off then back on. Fingers crossed. I am not impressed and cannot rely on this Ring video 2 Doorbell camera
So, I noticed the other day Spotify kept starting up on my phone (Galaxy S6) and showing notifications of what was playing (while I was streaming music on my PC). I cleared the notification, but every time the song changes the notification pops back up.
I have gone through the settings on my PC as well as my phone and can not find a way to stop it from updating every time the song changes.
I'd like to know this, too. It's really annoying when I'm at work and my partner is playing something on our Bose (wifi) speaker at home. Granted, I can mess with her music from the office, but I hate the constant pop-ups. Worst of all, it drags my Genius into it, so now I'm getting two push notifications every time.
This has only been happening with the latest Spotify releases..Notice that when I am using the phone the notification goes away after a while. It's when I turn the screen off and back on again, there is Spotify again! I even disabled notifications on the lock screen. Still pops up..Yes, I can disable notifications altogether but when I am actively using the app on my phone I would like to have the controls there. Spotify has coded something very aggressive where the app is running like all the time! Not cool.
Disabling notifications is a short-time fix, but I don't want the app to eat up my battery when I don't even use it. As a workaroud I now sign out of the app when I don't use it, but dear Spotify, could we have a _real_ solution please?
This is one of my biggest complaints with the program. Been a user for almost 8 years. What does it take to get spotify to fix this? Turning off notifications means when I actually do use my phone, I have to keep the app open instead of using the notification tab to play next song or pause. Extremely annoying.
I recently purchased a cam plus subscription for my v3 which has had problems intermittently since then, until this week when I received zero notifications. When I unassign the subscription, I get notifications just fine (albeit only 12 seconds of course). When I activate the subscription the cam still records events but I stop getting notification either by push or in the app itself. I went through all the settings, talked with support, etc but the only way I can get push notifications to work is by removing the cam plus subscription. Cam plus is pretty useless for me if I cant get notifications when customers are arriving.
Google unveiled the latest version of its Android operating system last week, and there's a lot to like about Android 14, including an AI wallpaper generator, upgraded passkey support, lockscreen customization, and more. But buried deep in the notification settings, there's a pretty useful feature hiding -- flash notifications.
Whether you're using your phone or it's locked, both notifications come through either way. It's worth noting the light only flashes twice. Google does warn people to use this feature with caution if you have sensitivity to flashing lights, and if that's the case, the screen flash is definitely the milder of the two.
In devices that had this feature years ago, the light would blink until the notification was dismissed. But now, the two quick binks are all you get. Still, it's a fantastic way to stay on top of your notifications, especially if you're expecting something important.
