How much do you really think about the colors that you use in your
home decor? Do you choose colors that you like, colors that match your
decor or theme of your room or colors that you have seen in a magazine
or home decorating program? Do you choose colors at random? Do you
hardly pay attention to your color schemes at all? If you knew that
certain colors could induce certain feelings and emotions in the
people who spend time in this room, would it change your thoughts on
using color?
Well, the truth that many people do not realize with decorating their
home is that certain colors really do incite certain feelings and
emotions within us. This is why color choice is very important when
decorating your home and the rooms within your personal space. We can
start with the primary colors:

Red: stimulates, arouses, and heightens awareness.
Blue: relaxes, calms, transfixes.
Yellow: recharges, energizes, revitalizes.

Secondary colors create gradations of the feelings that are caused by
the primary colors. For example:

Green: (Blue/Yellow) stabilizes, balances
Orange: (Red/Green) cheers, orders
Purple: (Blue/Red) protects, comforts

When decorating with colors, you need to keep these guidelines in mind
and choose colors that will help encourage the mood you wish to have
in a specific room or area of your home. For example, an exercise or
dance room would be great with yellow paint and blue makes a great
decor choice for the bedroom to help you relax. Now keep these color
guidelines in mind when you are decorating your next space or choosing
that new color to paint your walls.
