Hi,
I was wondering if people are having the same trouble as me. I opened
the guide out of the drop box, however, every time i go to access one
of the movies, a box pops up saying that windows in unable to find the
file.
is there something I am doing wrong?

thanks!

I had a similar problem a while back, which in my case was because my
solo project was saved in a folder different to that of the default
(or where the videos and archives are placed). Not sure if that's the
actual cause, but after saving my solo project there, the pop-up
disappeared.

But because the videos lag with in the in-built movie player anyway, I
just run the videos in Quicktime.

There is more than one possible problem and solution.

- First the volume of the tutorial material is such that it is not
feasible to properly install all of the tutorial materials onto the
Lab PCs. If you plan to work a lot in a lab the best option is to
bring the Training Guide files with you on a flash drive or DVD. You
will need to run the local ArchiCAD program and open the QTime files
on your drive (or copied onto the local data drive) manually.

- If you are referring to a problem on your home computer, the advice
about folders could be what you need. However when I installed mine, I
think ArchiCAD placed the files without asking me. I haven't tested my
home installation but I will do so, later today, and report back on
what I have found and learnt.

Further to my previous message, I did the test by opening the ArchiCAD
Essentials guide on my PC at home, in:
C:\Program Files\Graphisoft\ArchiCAD Essentials ITG\

The animation files worked fine by clicking the icons in the manual,
but not first time. Initially Winamp (which I use to play MP3s)
opened.

I needed to start QuickTime and reset:
Edit/ Preferences/QuickTime Preferences/File Types/MPEG/ +
by placing a tick in the MPEG-4 media box.

After that no problems.

Of course you need to unpack the downloaded exe file in order for it
to work. If you downloaded the separate Training Guide PDF file and
the unpacked exe file separately the PDF file won't activate the exe
file.

Note also, if you did everything right but moved the Training Guide to
another place, like the desktop, it might not work either. To make the
Training Guide more accessible, create a shortcut and put that on the
desktop, or wherever.
