Dear Colleagues:

Announcing a special issue of Games on Game Theory and Large Language Models.

LLMs are playing an increasingly important role in science as both models of behavior and problem solving tools, and in the real world as actors in social and economic systems. It is therefore critical to understand how these actors behave in strategic environments. How effective are LLMs in matching human strategic behavior? What are the facets of their behavior apart from their relationship to human behavior?

In this Special Issue of Games, we seek papers that use LLMs in game theory. Examples include agent-based settings in which LLMs determine agents’ actions in a strategic game; LLM communication over a network; experimental papers using LLMs or comparing LLM and human behavior; assessing mixed systems of LLMs and humans interacting; LLMs decoding signals; equilibrium selection, and game design; and whether and when humans and LLMs can differentiate between human and LLM players.

If you are interested in the special issue and are considering submitting, please let us know! If you have a tentative topic, title and/or abstract, we may be able to consider your submission for a publication discount.
