Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to announce the 20th BiGSEM Doctoral Workshop, organized by the Bielefeld Graduate School of Economics and Management (BiGSEM). The workshop will take place on December 15–16, 2025, at the Center for Interdisciplinary Research (ZiF), Bielefeld, Germany.
Since its inception, the BiGSEM Doctoral Workshop has provided an international forum for PhD students in economics, finance, and management to present their research, engage in scholarly exchange, and receive constructive feedback from peers and senior academics.
To celebrate the 20th edition, this year’s program will feature a special Alumni Session. We are delighted to welcome back three distinguished alumni who will reflect on their career trajectories inside and outside academia:
Prof. Dr. Sebastian Ebert (Alfred-Weber-Institute for Economics)
Alexandra Rusu, PhD (OECD Centre for Entrepreneurship, SMEs, Regions and Cities)
Margaret Samahita, PhD (University College Dublin)
Their talks, followed by Q&A sessions, will offer valuable perspectives on career opportunities and challenges after the PhD.
We invite PhD students in economics, finance, and management to submit their research papers for presentation at the workshop. Both theoretical and applied contributions are welcome.
Support for Participants
To facilitate participation, all accepted presenters will be
provided with free accommodation in Bielefeld, local transportation
during the workshop, and a social dinner.
